Monroe access

Can I reasonably get a 19' trailer and a long bed, 4 door truck up the Monroe side? Say into the Manning Res. area? I know the Koosharem road is better, but it is also a further drive. Will the Monroe side wreck my rig or stress me out?

Don't know about the Monroe side but a co-worker of mine pulled his 30'fifth wheel with a couple of quads on a tandom utility trailer up the Koosharem side.

Hopefully someone in the know will respond.

Best of luck on your hunt.

Gonna have to wait and see what the snow does. many many years ago the main access up pole canyon was washed out by a flood and you couldnt get up it with anything except foot. With the weather that utah is having and the heat thats coming it could create another massive flood. I'm heading up there in a few weeks so if you havent found anything out by then i'll let ya know.

i pm ed you earliar about your hunt i would under no circumstances take your trailor up the monroe side the extra time it takes you to go around is well worth it if you meet some one on some of those dugways you will have trouble plus it will stress the h*@l out of you

Thanks NV. I've got one guy telling me it's no problem and they do it all the time. But my trailer is new and I don't like my bunghole puckered so I think I'll take your advice.

Pull it up the Greenwich road shorter to get to Manning than the Koosharem road. I wouldn't pull up the Monroe side or up Pole canyon if I wanted to get to Manning.

I would never take a trailer up the Monroe side. We have property at the top of the mountain, just as you pass the peak road turnoff, just as you get to the top of the climb. There is a meadow at the top, thats our property. I have taken 4 wheeler trailers up the Moroe side and bounced the hell out of me and everything else, even right after the fresh grade. Koosharem is the way to go. Liked mentioned before, well worth the extra 30 minute drive to go around the mountain.

We used to hunt deer up there when there used to be deer and even with my family in Annabelle and Richfield, they would all drive around the mountain.

Just my long 2 cents worth.

Good luck on the Hunt! LOTS of Bulls, good fishing, and the most beautifull land on earth!

I agree with above, the Monroe side is pretty brutal. They have redone the road the last couple of years and it would still have a huge pucker factor with a trailer. We tow ATVs up that side and just go slow, but hands down the Koosharem side ist he smoothest ride towing anything.

Robiland - we're neighbors... my wife's family cabin is directly east of your property.

I will burn my first post on this subject. I live in Richfield and have been up the Monroe side a few more times than I can mention in just my truck alone. It is really a wise idea to go to Greenwhich as mentioned above, and go up Box Creek to get to Manning. It will save pucker factor on top of white knuckles and loads of anxiety. Between Koosharem and Box Creek I take my trailer up on the Monroe several times a year, and in my honest opinion it will save you time to do the same.

Oddnut & Robiland -- Sounds like we're all neighbors up there! Our cabin is just to the south of you in Monroe Meadows, like BigPig I was lucky enough to draw an archery tag this year too so I'll probably run into all you guys this summer. As far as pulling a trailer--I wouldn't even consider pulling up the Monroe side if you want to keep your trailer in one piece! If you're wanting to camp around Manning Res you definately want to go up through Greenwich, it wont take you any longer and you wont beat the $hit out of your rig!

Nate, all I can say is that if you try to take it up the Monroe side, I'll be the first guy in line saying "I told you so."

The Koosharem and Greenwich roads are both way better options. Greenwich will simply take you in farther south than Koosharem.

I just need to apoligize to my neighbors for some of the "Crap" that the rest of the family does up there. We just hunt, fish and camp, but the rest of them party it up. SO i am sorry for any problems. Good luck with your tags this year.

We might just see you all up there, fishing at Barney is where I will be.
