I hit the book cliffs mz deer tag and am starting my research, anyone hunted it in the past and want to help out with any info appreciated. I could help out with some Alaska DIY moose and black bear hunts in return.

Thanks

I drew the same tag and decided that I would book a guide for the area. My guide has hunting or scouted that area for the past 15 years so, I hope that experience helps out.

I too had this permit last year. Like Gloomis if you want some specifics, you can PM me. However, I did find that by the time the muzzleloader hunt rolled around, many of the bigger bucks were moving off the top. This is because of the rifle elk hunt that takes place just before the muzz hunt starts. Basically, you'll need to spend some time in the transition zone between the summer and winter range (and that's alot of country to look over).

I haven't muzzleloader hunted it personally but, I have hunted all other seasons. The last two years I have been out there in the rifle elk hunt and seen some very impressive bucks. I have lived near and spent alot of time out there in the last 7 years. I can help with some info. email me at [email protected]

Was out the WEEKS last year. Send me an e-mail. I would not hire a guide for that unit but that is up to you.

I have already paid my deposit. We are going into the "roadless" area a couple of days before and getting back in there a bit. With horses and someone to take care of the food, shelter and everything else, it is worth it to me. I go on a guided hunt every other year and it was time.

It is the whole experience that does it for me and not just the hunting or killing. I like to meet new people, swap stories around a campfire, and hopefully share the spot and stalk with a good guide.
