After the draw I am now sitting on 11 NR points and have been appling for Unit 10 which will take another 10 years to draw. The question is are units 66 or 67 for the muzzleloader hunt worth burning my points on? Since I didn't draw a deer tag in Colorado this year I could spend some time in some of the units looking around scouting, then probably draw a tag for the 2011 season or keep putting in for the hybrid draw and try and get lucky? I would appreciate your thoughts from some of you that are familiar with those units, what type of animals ect.. Feel free to pm me, thanks.

You may want to pull out some maps and look at the 2 areas you are considering. What type of country and terrain do you enjoy hunting? 66/67 vs 10 are totally different. If you have time this summer and/or fall take a drive through both areas to get a feel for what you are up against. I'm not sure what your weapon of choice may be but that may also change your success chances in either unit. Also take a look at if cow seasons overlap, deer, antelope, etc.

I know if I was waiting 20 years for a tag I would be spending some time in the area to get to know access and other things that will improve my eventual hunt of a lifetime! There is no better experience than being in the unit several years before you draw the tag to learn more about it and viewing giant critters!

Thanks for the good advice from each of you that pm'd me. Thanks jims I'll pull out the maps and do some more research on google earth its a handy long distance scouting tool.

I have never hunted unit 10, but in unit 66 five seasons since 99. A 300 inch bull would be tough to get as compared to unit 10 or other quality units. I've seen a couple dead 270 and 280 but they are even rare, probably like 1 in 100. I'm saving points for 40, 61, late season 20, or 76.
