I hunted that area 4 years ago during the late season deer hunt. Alot of people hunt off of the Huntsman road which can be accessed in Powderhorn - access roads into BLM land is difficult from the road South towards Los Pinos Pass due to private property - one other access besides Huntsman that I am aware of is just before you get to the Guest Ranch - if you get a Gunnison Basin map you will see that most of the access off of the road from Powderhorn is blocked. I hunted the South end around the Los Pinos pass area. Not sure if you are planning on camping, if so there is one State Wildlife area that has limited camping. I would assume that you plan on scouting the area before hunting. I saw a couple of groups of elk, mostly cows with the biggest bull being a 5 point.
