I have started the process of starting a non profit foundation that is going to based here in Utah only. With this foundation we are only going to focus our efforts on the deer herds here in Utah only. The national foundations all do good work but we need somthing that keeps all the money we raise here in our state for our deer herds.

Right now I am looking for those that are willing to get this off the ground. If you help with other orginizations come help us. Those that have experiance with this or those that just have a buringing desire to help please contact me. I am also going to do a state foundation for elk, so pick either elk or deer or help with both. Also looking forsome that would be willing to donate their time and help get a website going.

I am just tired of all of these national foundations taking the money and using it on other states when we have plenty of ways to use it to benefit us here in Utah. \\\\

I said nothing about tags,,,,,,, If in the future it gets to that point that we can get tags. I promise you now ALL AND ANY MONEY RAISED WILL STAY HERE IN UTAH. The idea is to our cost and overhead low. Instead of the 40/70 that the DWR is wanting it will be more like 80/20. And I am going to try damn hard to put conservation tags back to the public. It is a joke on how many tags these other national orginizations get. Then here is another kicker. Its the sheep foundation in Cody Wyoming that gets to run the convention here in Utah in Jan. Not the state itself or a company here in Utah. I am tired of out sourcing. It also seems that other orginzations are more worried about the sportsmans needs and not so much on the wildlife at hand.

You may want to think about an accountant. A 40/70 split is damn near impossible. Also, the state is the one whom decides the split, not the org's.

Kudos for standing up and getting involved. Hope all goes well for you. Although not a Utah res., Sounds like you are headed the right way.

They all start out "headed the right way".

I knew saying that a 70/30 split was going to bite me in the butt after I wrote and left and then started thinging about it. What I was trying to get after was that alot of money is wasted on other things beside the wildlife.

Also to comment on they all start off with good intentions. Let me ask you this. If a orginization's actions are based on the votes of its members and not the board then how could it go wrong. Wow awesome now here is a way to keep it in check. I know it will be a little more complicated but I have a designer working on a program that will allow members to log in and cast their votes.

Hey, thats great, we did the the same with California Deer Assoc. our split is 75 percent back into the field. It has turned out to be a great progarm. If you need any help I am sure the main office could answer some questions for you. Its all about wildlife. You will be amazed, the things you can get done, if everybody joins up. Like you said, keep the money in Utah. Here is the main office ph no. 888 499 3337 Good luck. Mike

Mike,
Thanks for the support and the number, I will be giving them a call this Monday, I am so excited for this. This is something that has needed to be done for a long time. I hope the true support comes out in real life and not just hides behind the computer. From the responce that I have recieved I know that this will take off.

Reading one of the post, saying that the members should have the vote. Calif. Deer Assoc. has a board member, they do not get paid. We have one field rep. for the entire state, that gets pay, & the office girl. My own thought, would be a board member comm. would be better. There inner re action with fish & game, etc, I think you would better off, & you will get a lot more done. CDA board members, has no more rights than I do, by being a member. CDA board members don't get any speical treatment to hunt where they want. CDA is buying property, they
as board members, aren't any more special than me.In some foundations, the big guys get all the rewards, members don't. If you stay on track, & don't put the foundation above your members, you people in Utah, have a great chance to do something special. One other thing, CDA has a outstanding youth
progarm, something that is very important to any foundation. Ray let me know when you are going to have your first dinner, I will try to attend. Good Luck Mike

Thanks Mike, I was trying to get my point across that the board members will have the same rights as the memebers. No more no less, the board is just going to be the ones to present the idea's to the DWR. I am going to shoot for the end of summer on having this thing up and running and then banquets next year. I will let you know on dates and places and times. For all that have emailed me thanks and I look forward to working with all of you.

Ray
