NM Unit 23

Does anyone know anything about this unit I drew it on a second choice this year. My Dad knows some about the unit but I have little time to hunt.

Tough as hell hunt. Not many animals, but a few big elk. Don't get frustrated! What weapon?

Bow the first hunt.

Elk are scattered in the unit. Highest density in the northernmost portion of unit, but hunters concentrate there as well. Area around Luna can be good as well as the power lines to the south. Get there a couple days early and find a pocket with a good bull and get on him first day before they get pushed around a lot. Don't overlook some of the areas to the south if you have time to scout you can find some good bulls in the low country.
Tough hunt, too many tags and scattered elk. There are some 350" bulls in the unit if you can put your time in to locate them.

Thanks I was planning to hunt around there and my dad knows where a good bull is already. So were just about ready.

Scout the transtion area's between the grasslands and the trees
that where you will spot them early A:M and at Dusk.
