I will be hunting mule deer in mid november for the first time in Montana and would really like some information on the land around fort peck res. It appears that there is a lot of BLM land around and any help on narrowing down a chunk to hunt would be great. Walking is not an issue (actually looking for rough and hard to get to country). Please help this very excited first time Montana hunter!!!!!! Muley7

Glass, glass, and glass. Then glass some more. It will pay off. Thats all. Good luck.

life IS good

I work with a gut who hunts there every other year, I will see if he would be willing to share some info. If so I will kick it down to you.

Good luck

North side or south side? Be prepared for large crowds even where it is difficult to get to. There are no undiscoverd places out there.

LAST EDITED ON May-19-06 AT 01:40PM (MST)[p]Have fun, that's some awesome country!

Check with the CMR HQ for restrictions and season dates that will differ from FWP's. Stay on the roads, watch your campsite location, don't get caught in there when it rains/snows, be mindful of rancher/outfitters and private land. Bring your horse. Leave your ATV home. Big country, lots of hunters.

You might contact the Miles City BLM office in, where else, Miles City for some great maps and the BLM regs for Montana. BLM has different rules/regs for various states and perhaps might differ from where you usually hunt.

I will be in that area the second week of November for a couple days myself. When will you be there?
