i just got off the phone with the montana FWP and they told me that they mailed out notification of 1500 additional nonresident deer licenses last week to all the unsuccessful applicants. has anyone received the notice yet? none of my party has.

I got mine today, Monday the 22nd. I ran to the bank before it closed and already have it in the mail back to Helena. The app said there were 1515 additional tags.
I live in Wa.

hopefully tomorrow i will get mine in the mail. i bet if you don't get it by tomorrow, it will be to late after that.

I do not see any of that information on the website; why are they sending out an additional 1500 tags??? And, what about the people that applied for the elk/deer combo, will they get a chance??

Got my letter on Saturday....Sent it back with a check on Monday. They stated in the letter that the application for an additional deer tag will not affect your bonus points... Hopefully it's a done deal!

I believe everyone that applied for a deer combo or elk /deer combo that checked the block on the application that asked if you would be interested in information concerning additional deer tags were threw into another drawing in which they pulled 1750 names. These people were then sent an application...only 1500 tags will be issued on a first come first serve basis.

I don't think this has anything to do with the alternnate list.

Mguy,
Usually the additional deer tags are those that are left over from land owner sponc. and those split off from guys that only want an elk tag in the elk/deer combo.
I don't think the unsucessful combo guys will get another chance as there are no additional elk tags available.

Got my notification on monday here in eastern CA. Sent the $$$ back out yesterday. I could hardly believe what I was reading. From what I understand I can get a deer tag (I assume a "Deer A") and not have my bonus points reduced to zero...this seems too good to be true.

Can anyone elaborate why bonus points will NOT be affected?

no tag for me. from what i understand, there was 1515 additional tags and notices were mailed out to 1700 people. pretty easy to get it if you watch your mail. guess i'm heading to wyoming with a leftover tag this year.

Because you did not use your bonus point in the general drawing. In effect the tag is viewed as an excess/leftover tag that would not have been used had you not purchased it. You should be happy that Montana takes that view of left over deer tags.

Hope everyone enjoys there hunting this fall.
