Spike or Jail?

A spike is: A ?spike bull? is a bull elk that has at least one antler that does not branch above the ears. A branch is a projection on an antler that's longer than one inch, measured from its base to its tip (R657-5-2(2)(s))

So can i shoot this guy when I am hunting spikes?

ya see i never thought about that.. if he doesnt have an ear on either side i could harvest him no matter what his antler configuration is! And if he ripper off both ears or just had droopy ones, i could harvest any bull! haha...

I would not shoot that bull on a spike unit...to risky. that back point looks like it is going to high. I think they should just leave it at one point on at least on side.

That is one weird looking dude. Id shoot him real quick like just because he is so odd. Then again maybe not... Ill have to think some more on this one.

Try using your common sense. Does that really look like a spike to you? We all know what a spike really is, and common sense tells you that bull is not a spike, regardless of the G&F definition.

my good sir, this is a spike. thats why they have a definition. if it doesn branch above the ear, then its a sike. You might be used to only seeing twig bulls whre you hunt, but where we hunt, there are alot of freaks like this. You cn use your common sense in a definition next time.

This bull branches above the ear, or so it appears. i wouldn't shoot him on a spike hunt/unit.
