Anyone use the "Chuckler" bugles?

Okay, in the past I've always hunted with other folks that did the bugling and I've only cow called in the past. I have quite a collection of cow calls but no bugle. I'm going to be hunting on my own in New Mexico this year and need to get my own bugle. I'll be hunting after the rut so I will mainly be using it in the early mornings as more of a locator bugle.

The guy I hunts with does a great job with his bugles and we've actually called in outfitters on horseback several times on accident in the past. He uses diaphram calls, however I have a hard time with any diaphram calls for any species, and am wanting to get a call with an external reed.

The Primos Power Bugle just doesn't sound good to me, and I'm leaning toward the Mac Daddy for now, but I've also been looking at the Chuckler XTR that elknuts sells.

What do you guys think?

Thanks, Nathan

Nathan, if you'd like to hear the Chuckler XTR (external reed) I have a short video clip of it being demonstrated along with my regular Chuckler Grunt Tube with mouth reeds. Since I'm a mouth reed user that's what's on the clip 1st, you can fast forward it to the XTR demonstration since that's your interest. It is a bite & blow Bugle so takes a minute or two to get fairly reasonable sounds out of it. It also has the option to remove the XTR version & use mouth reeds in an instant if a guy wishes to do so!

I personally only played with it for no more than a minute before the demo & those were the exact sounds that you'll see & hear. (grin) Here's the link if interested! The video is on that page just scroll down & you'll see the video to click on.

I own one and I got it from elknut last year and I will be the first to tell you I would not use any other bugle. I use diaphram mouth reads with it and it sounds awesome. You will not go wrong by getting this bugle tube. I have used a lot of tubes primos, mac daddy and nothing compares. I had the best results with the chuckler last calling elk than I ever have in the past.

I really like the ckuckler grunt tubes but am not to enthused about the XTR mouthpiece....If Paul ever comes up with a way to adapt an E.L.K power bugle mouthpiece to the chuckler grunt tube look out Elk...... Terry

My favorite is the Power Bugle mouth piece inserted into an "ABE & SONS" tube. You just blow, and it sounds perfect. No skill needed.
