My young nephew put in for the Gen. Muzzy elk hunt without consulting anyone and now is wondering what to do! Is there anyone out there that is willing to give me any info on this hunt so I can help him out. I've never hunted the Gen. Muzzy hunt and have no clue where to begin, any info would be greatly appreciated. I'm not looking for anyones honey holes, just a place where the elk hang out in november. Thanks

Hope like heck that we get a big snow storm.
If we do get snow, the Northern WMAs can sometimes get bulls on there way to the winter range stolling through.
Good Luck

Snow will help but you dont need it. Hunt close to the borders of good private ground and you will catch elk moving back and forth. But you better be willing to hike.

HJB gave you some good advice......PRAY for SNOW......by the muzzy hunt, the elk have been chased for three months, and wore themselves out during the rut. The bulls will start to hang out together away from the cows.

go scout. get out now, in a month, in another month and at least one day a month until the month before the hunt, then go out if you can once a weeka nd find the elk. then shoot one. then you wll have no problem finding an killing one... i mean, your grand son or nephew, who ever it was...

If he is going alone---he can come with us for a week.

Last year we had 26 inches of fresh snow opening day and into day 2.....

This year the hunt is a week later------

Did he put in for the Youth Muzzleloader hunt? If he did then that hunt is in September. I didn't think you had to apply for a General Muzzleloader Elk tag I think you can just go buy one.

He is 16 and put in/purchased on the internet when he purchased his combo license for the year.
