Tell me what you think

Another year without a bull tag in hand, I'll only be shooting a cow this archery season. Have this bull and his buddies frequenting our stand site and wonder what you all think he might score by August 21st. This picture was taken July 20th.

Thats a nice Bull! What unit are you hunting? Hopefully you can draw that tag in the next year or so. Looks like you have a hell of a water hole there!

What does it matter?
Are you chasing b/c bulls only? For the fame and glory?

Every bull elk is a trophy and I've never seen a small elk!!!

NickW,

The score doesn't matter to me as to whether or not I would take him. If I had the tag I would love to shoot this bull no matter his score. I think he is a beautiful bull. Over the past 6 years I've taken 4 cows & 2 spikes so be no means am I big horn hunter only. I'm just trying to learn what it takes to be a 300", 350" etc. type bull for real to help me understand what others are talking about. Sometimes pictures just are not the same as the real thing. After seeing & filming quite a few bulls up close over the past few years I'd like to know what class animals I'm watching. Always trying to learn more.

From the sounds of it you are a Utah archer. You are right on about what matters. If you like it hit the trigger. Love big bulls! Good luck to your friend, hope it is a hunt of a lifetime!

Looks like he'll be in the 320 range. He'll be 350 next year when you have your bull tag !!

I will go with mid to high 330's. He may go 340. He's got great 2nds and decent 3rds. Average width from what I can tell and short main beams. A safe 330 bull.

It's always an adventure!!!

I was thinking he would be around the 350" mark when he's done growing. Shows what I know. Either way he looks like he'll be a great bull!

What's with everyone shooting cow elk...??? Is it a herd management type thing...??? I wouldn't waste my time on a cow... I just don't get it...

As for the bull, he's a Beaut...!!! 320-330 range for sure

If you want big bulls you have to keep the herds in check. Too many elk, too much feed being eaten, and unhealthy elk. The best way to keep the herd in check is to hunt cows.

And the cows taste better!

I have talked to many people, who only have not been impressed with the steaks from their big bulls.

I can have an entire cow cut up into steaks and enjoy the whole thing.

Later,

Marcial
