The draw odds are posted on the CDOW website. Don't know what I was thinking. I had absolutely zero chance of drawing the 3rd season in 66 with 7 points. It looks like those with 11 points had a 50% chance at a tag. May have to re-think the way I apply next year.

Dam, I was afraid they raised the tags where I drew my second choice. Anyone have any ideas on where to try in 18, 28, 37, 371 with 975 people during the second season? Do most people hunt the weekends in those units?

Hopefully, with all the changes, we saw a one year abberation causing the tag points required to jump and they will drop somewhat next year. Will have to wait and see.

The point banking changed everything. I should have drawn my tag with 8 points but there were guys with 13 put in for it. I'll bet they're kicking themselves because so many guys with lots of points did it they ran the number of points needed to draw up and burnt more points than they thought they would. next year should give us mid point guys a chance.

what do you think it will do to the low point guys. i have 3 ,im thinking it will be allot tougher for us with all of the point banking.

I'd say you're right, point banking just made a bunch of high point guys into low point guys. they may hold out to build points back again but I bet most wont.

looks like a lot of people put in for tags that only required 1 or 2 points in the past, as well. Wasn't a good year to try and sneak a low point unit if you were short on points. it will be interesting to see what the next few years bring.

I think there are going to be alot of people who thought they where going to bank points and get a "Non trophy area tag".I put in for area 22 4th season with 5 points and did not draw.Looking at the odds it took 8 points to draw. One person had 10 and 3 had 8.Now it should be a good hunt with the rut, but using 8 points for that unit is not good value in my book.I'm sure they figured on getting half there points back.It will be very interesting to see what happens in the next few years.

Can somebody please post a link to where this information is posted.

Thanks

Mark

Point banking was a one time deal. Next year, it starts all over again. There are alot of unhappy residents that did not draw tags that in the past were virtually gauranteed. The DOW basically had to do this as there were alot of people with alot of points burning a hole in their pockets. The number of points required to draw a tag increases every couple of years. As a result it is almost impossible to catch up with the required points.

I decided to spend my points this year on both deer and antelope. I am curious as it sorta sounds from reading various articles here that the banking opportunity brought some people out who normally would not have applied.

So in other words, the banking opportunity sounds like it did what the DOW wanted. People spent some points. There will definitely be less people with high point counts for the 2007 draw than there otherwise would have been. This bodes well for those who still have points to spend. It just may reduce the overall max points required for that unit you've been waiting for.

According to the DOW, they will re-evaluate the success of the point banking scheme for 2007. So it is possible it could continue. I tend to think it just might. I'd say 55-60% chance they will do it again next year. But that's just my opinion.

But it will be interesting to see what reality will be next year.

Just a FYI-

We updated the Hunt Odds website and the 2006 data is now posted. Kinda fun to scroll through the GMU's and see how things changed for the past couple of years.
