my brother took some pics this weekend.

grizzly island. I think there is only one bull tag. It is cool you drive pretty close to them.

This is about as close as you can get to the elk from the road.

However, you can send your girls out walking the roads while you walk in the wetlands trying to circle them for some photos.

The houses in the background are around the Cordelia area. I live in Cordelia and you can not see any elk from Hwy 680 area. Its funny but about 99% of the people that live in the area have no idea that a large herd of Tules are down the street?

As for the tag, a person has a better chance at winning CA's Lottery then they have a drawing a Grizzly Island Bull tag.

+1

There are some good herds of these, with very nice bulls, between Livermore and Mission San Jose too. I love looking at them!

Thanks for the excellent pic's!!!

I'm liking the bull with the droopy right ear. There are some massive bodies on some of those bulls. Thanks for the pictures.

Grizzly Island is a neat elk hunt. I got to tag along on a cow hunt a few years ago, helping a friend's wife with her tag. She and her daughter drew, so dad took his daughter while I took his wife. We had a ball, saw probably 75-80 elk in the morning, and both girls took cows before noon. I snuck my hunter into a edge of a herd of probably 25 elk with a very big bull and we laid about 50 yards from them for about 10 minutes before a cow stood up. When she shot, the cow collapsed and she exclaimed "Oh no, did I hurt it?" I told her she hurt it real bad. Those are great eating elk off that land.
