For a few years now we have been seeing and reading posts by Browtine, followed by his signature picture of a buck. What many of you don't realize is the buck that inspired his picture was one he and several others here on MM had seen and photographed. His sheds were displayed at AntlerFest.

It is beleived this buck met a sad end. The guys in the "Horned Up" video show and talk about him. Great video. Just a little FYI

Oh ya, If I'm gonna plug one shed video I better plug the other. Mossbacks new shed hunting video is awesome. A very cool video that puts you right there while guys and girl pick up some freaking huge sheds. We get to see browtines very shiney head multiple times in this video, but for some weird reason, he only picks up deer sheds. :)

On another sad note, Antlerking met a sad end the same day as the fest. Yep, he got married, again. :)

Ah yes, "Buddy". What a great buck. He was sure awesome to see and was very photogenic. Seeing those sheds sure brought back memories. Here is a pic we (brother and I) took of him the same year.

This is the picture I based my "LOGO" off of.

Boy I'd say a sad end. Being turned into a wooden lawn deer....what a way to end up!

'It's all about the gut pile'

Here is a picture I took of him in 2004. It's funny Larry, I remember one day I was looking at Brandon's "signature buck" and I thought to myself, "damn, that thing sure looks just like a buck I've been seeing." I sent Brandon a couple pictures and sure enough it was the same buck!

I sure wish he was still around. What a neat looking buck with some AWESOME potential! Can you imagine what he might have been with another year or two behind him...

I forgot to mention that I talked to the guy that feels certain that he found this buck dead. This guy knew the buck VERY well and one day found a buck that had been poached and had the antlers cut off. He was 90% sure that it was this buck because of a few unique qualities that the buck had. Too bad...

Thanks for the cool story and pictures, I enjoyed it. Its really sad when they meet an end like that I left a nice buck one year thinking he would really be nice next year and that no one would find where he was located. I heard through the rumor mill he was poached under a spotlight about a month later.

And now we know........"the rest of the story."

Thanks Yelum.

I have a "stupid" question. Is "Antlerfest" just a place to show antlers or is it a place to also buy and sell? Being stuck here on the left coast I don't "get out" much, as if you couldn't tell. Thanks,

Steve

Hey Guys, We were suprised at all the interest that the buck we
called "Nookie" generated. He was definetly a great "up and comer" that we looked forward to seeing mature. As was mentioned
a good friend spotted him one time in his usuall area early in the rut, then he disappeared. Shortly after, a poached buck with
horns removed was found there. Nookie never resurfaced. And did
not show the following year. Sad to say that someone got away
with a great buck that many enjoyed, but I truly believe that
what goes around comes around. So poacher be assured that one
day your time will come.
A big thanks from the "Horned Up" High Country Hunters team
to all the folks that put Antler Fest together. I know I have
never enjoyed so many big horns and racks in one place including
Teton Village. It was great visiting with so many of you and thanks for supporting us in buying the DVD.
The "lawn deer" that Opie put together to show the sheds
generated a lot of interest from many. Maybe he will start up
a new side line business?
Thanks Again, we look forward to next year.

It was great meeting you and Opie and the video was VERY educational as well as enjoyable. Great Job. It was cool to see a few of the bucks I actually got to see in person. We sat and chatted with Opie for an hour after everyone had gone. What a nice personable guy he is. And tell him thanks for the lawn deer. I gave it to my wife and see loved it. Although it probably won't make it to the yard. You know us Utards. Nothings to good for the house. :) Thanks for coming and hope it was worth the trip.

You can do it all at the fest. Buy, sell, look, fondle, or just tell a yarn or two.

Yelum, Great meeting you and visiting about big bucks. Glad you enjoyed the video, some folks seem to be a little put off by it and the message we tried to get across. Perhaps the message hit a little too close to home? Everyone here loves big ol' Muleys and their horns, some people run too close to " loving them to death".
Hope the wooden buck warrants a good corner in your den, post a pic of the set you mount on him. Perhaps BLT can affix them for ya after he gets his 2 new hunting partners on the ground.

Teter,
Thanks for the reminder. How could I forget my favorite video of him. :) Mesa Mulies 2 features mostly Southern UT bucks with a few WY brutes thrown in. Some good stuff for sure, with some awesome footage of this deer.

One of the main points of Horned UP is to educate the public about how fragile the winter range is, and how we need to be careful not to ruin the very resource we enjoy. If we don't take care of the habitat and the mulies we won't have them to feed our passion.

I know exactly what set I'm putting on the deer so I'll post a pick when it's done.

Yelum

Oh yea teter, You do have footage of this buck (good footage I might add).

Warren, I actually really like you video. I am going to put my thoughts about it up I just havent had time.

Thanks Brandon, Things have been busy here too. We do appreciate any feed back you or other viewers want to share with us at highcountryhunters.com. We are in discussion stages now for content of our next video. What do you want more of, less of. What did we miss. Of course I hope the main feature is footage of me taking a big 'ol BigHorn with my bow this August with my Area 4 tag ;).
