I cant hardly stand it anymore. Rocketman isn't helping any, either.
I went through and RE sharpened all my knives and hell while I was at it, sharpened the lawnmower blades, too. I'm going to put my tent up in the backyard just to get the practice.

I'm tellin y'all, I'm sick.

I hit the lottery for the 1st time since 2001 so I am with you on that. My wife is ready to shoot me just so she can turn off the hunting shows, and I have now bought up every federal premium 150 grain nosler partition from Mobile to Montgomery. Best of luck and skill to you.

Pretty excited myself.

Even though this isn't really any different than most years other than I have a Utah LE bow Bull tag and a Wyo bow Bull tag to fill for starters!

Shooting good arrow groups with broadheads only and am keeping my hiking routine very active....my full hunting pack on while hiking.

Life is good!

Less then 3 weeks holy crap its coming fast! I have alot to do before it gets here but oh well bring it on.

Yeah your sick alright Shedcrazy. Just so you know, you're not alone we all have the same affliction. I noticed this morning that the sun came up a little later. That always triggers my symptoms. It's not the draw results in April or July, it's the length of day that does it for me. Fall is coming, the elk will be bugling soon. Hopefully we will all have a good season this year whether we are hunting or helping out. Good luck to you all and be safe.

Ya the shorter days gets me too, but I get the bug when I've had enough of the snow and can't wait to get up the canyon. I usually have to go on a spending spree to Cabelas to calm me down. :\ By August I've got a one tracked mind.

I have been scouting alot and found the bigest buck I have ever
seen on the hoof so now I can't sleep wanting to get up and find him again so I can pattern him. but now I have to work for a 9 days. I think I am going nuts.
I think he is over thirty and on public land.

The fever is coming. The thing that really triggers it for me is that first puff of cool air. It has been pretty hot here lately, so that has kept the fever at bay somewhat.

Going to Gamefair this weekend, that should also get the fever going.

I have been running the fever for three months now so I'm right there with you. My 13 year old son is going with me this year and I have spent my hunting budget three times over already. My wife wants to to take me to the doc to see what is wrong with me. I can hardly work without bringing it up. I'm sick with the fever! Pass the asprin.

My work productivity has gone out the window over the last couple days. Shooting the bow like crazy, getting the final prep work done, one last scouting trip next weekend, then guess what, Archery 2010 is here! The shakes are starting...

My wife really stats to hate me this time of year. I watch one dang hunting show and i'm "obsessed". Can't help it though, its in the blood! Can't wait!

Muzzle I feel your pain man! My wife thinks the same thing if I watch a hunting show or even talk about hunting. They just dont understand what we go through do they.

i feel your pain...try taping a hunting show over one of her regular shows..mine is convinced there is something wrong with me when i dare 2 schedule every show having to do with elk that it denies her recordings due to limited space.

My wife calls it "hunting porn".
True, it really turns me on!

My freezer has a little space for a couple deer and a couple elk.

The Glossy Ibis are flying, the doves are starting to look like targets, I lick my lips when I see deer. Yup, hunting season is almost here. Even some of the turds on MM are in a better mood!

I LOVE this time of year and have been doing so for 43 consecutive hunting seasons. (Even more than that if you count the years before I could hunt!)

GOOD LUCK TO ALL YOU GUYS AND GALS OUT THERE. SUCCESS TO YOU AND BE SAFE!

Zeke

PS. Wear your camo but remember your manners!

OK, so I went out and set up my new tent in. Did a little scouting and taught my 8 year old daughter how to read sign. She watched me squish in elk turd between my finger and thumb and was enthralled, not grossed out. Just may have me a lil hunter, afterall.

I have packed and repacked my gear to know how most efficiently get my gear into the woods. I cant possibly sharpen my knives anymore. I'm staring at maps that I already know like the back of my hand. I'm dreaming about it and swear I hear bugling.

I aint right in the head.

I wish I had a quarter for every time my wife caught me with that glossed over look in my eye, intensely thinking about which pairs of socks to bring along on the backcountry elk hunt...or what pattern to plant my pheasant food plots in....or....the list goes on. If she asks what I am thinking about, I have gotten pretty good at coming up with something other than what I am really thinking! Something like....oh, just thinking about those curtains you picked out for the bedroom dear. I really lke them.....

That's excellent!

I find myself in the garage just starring at my stuff. I swear, packing to leave on my elk hunt is almost damn near as fun as the hunt itself just based on pure excitement levels.

it's only the 11th, damnit. I will find myself in the mountains again this weekend, though. I haven't scouted enough yet. I need to become more intimate with these new woods.

I am officially running at about 104 degrees right now. The time is here. Good luck to all and can't wait to see all the photos.

Mike

I still have almost 2 whole months left. Uggg. Maybe I will drill some holes in my toothbrush tonite (save some weight ya know). Or I could maybe re-alphabetize my hunting pants.....

Yup these last few days seemed to draw on the most. But i'm finally hitting the dirt. See ya'll when you're freezers are full.

I have it too Doc!!!! I have been watching hunting porn and I am logged on to MM until midnight every night this week. I have mad excuse to go to the sporting goods store 2 times a day. I think they are sick of me. I bought 2 scopes, a bunch of reloading stuff and have my bow there being worked on. I also took my 8 year old shooting last night to sight in her new scope on her cricket. Bought a new freezer to put all my meat in this fall. I will be bow hunting antelope next week and I am headed to Cablea's this weekend. My wife thinks maybe I should take medicated.

whooo im relieved, i thouoght it was only me. I'm going to make my wife read this where she will realize that i'm not the only one and then maybe she will get an understanding of why this happens every winter.

I have to wait until the 30th of Oct. and it hard to wait.

By accident, I discovered one of our kitchen cabinets sounds a bit like an elk. My wife isn't very happy with me after a half hour of trying to get it to squeak just right.

So now I've done it. I packed my truck with all my gear Saturday night. Just to make sure it all fit.

I unpacked it Sunday.

I'll pack it again this coming Saturday because it's live action next Sunday!

Along time ago when I was first married, my wife would say something like "do you have to be gone that long?" (4 days) Now it's something like, "what can I do to help you get ready?" and "you're only going for a week, is that all?"
