i was wondering if anyone uses cow and bull calls on the wasatch front. or is it even worth it cause everyone else trys and sucks at it and all the elk are use to it and dont respond. please let me know what you think.

Just pick any canyon that has elk in them and at first light listen to all the terminator and hoochies calling to themselves non stop. Id be afraid Id take an arrow blowing a call!

There are no big bucks in Utah! LOL

In the area I hunt during the extended they are really call shy. I've only tried a few times with cow calls but the results were so bad I gave it up. They just hightailed it out of the area. I've seen guys across a canyon just blowing away on their bugles with no results. (actually I didn't wait around all that long to find out so who knows)

That's not to say they wont bugle because if you hit it right they will, as I learned last year. They bulls were bugling really good one morning and I wanted to try a cow call, but I decied not to risk it. I got lucky and and it worked out with my first bull.

I dont necessarily leave the call at home, but rarely use it.
