Just got back from my scouting trip, spotted over 100 head of cows with three seperate herds of 20+ cows each. Saw tons of deer with lots of 150 class bucks with one or two being in the 170 class range. Also, caught a boone & crocket sized horny toad...

Didn't even find a bull bigger than a spike, but in 1.5 days found tons of cows and calves. I assume that once the rut starts to hit, the bulls will be with the cows. What do you guys think?

I think you're right find the cows during the rut and you will find the herd bull along with some sat. bulls.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

I was out last week and saw similar things, big groups of cows and calves with a couple spikes and raghorns mixed in. Then I found 2 separate bachelor groups of mature bulls. One group of 7 and one group of 10. The big bulls are just off by themselves this time of year, but when the rut kicks in they will show up with the cows.

That was kind of how I felt. I was happy to find all the cows and calves. Little dissapointed to not find any big bulls to look at...

But man, that was one huge horny toad...Wish I had my camera...I am sure it would have made the record books...

Man, I am getting the fever. I have spent the last two days at work pouring over online maps of the area, checking this site every few minutes, etc. Dreaming of big bulls and going over my "hunting list" in my mind every few minutes.

11 days to go, the last count down is starting...
