Calling Cows

Going to Colorado for the first rifle season for cow elk. Has anyone called in cow elk in October ?
I have called them in September durring muzzleloader,that is what I usually hunt,but this year no muzzleloader tag ,so trying first rifle season.
To me half the fun of elk hunting is calling.

Yes
The first weeks of Oct isn't bad for calling you will still hear bulls bugling and cows calling but it starting to taper off pretty quick.

Get a calf call or a lost cow call. I've had by far the best luck using them for bulls but the cows are the ones looking for me. The bull is just following them.
