Wasatch LE Elk any weapon

My wife drew a Wasatch LE Elk tag for the any weapon hunt. I know the basic area around Strawberry. I have spent some time up there this summer scouting. I would appreciate it if those of you who have been on this hunt in the past would share with me some areas to avoid due to crowds. From what I can tell from spending time up there this summer it will be very busy with campers and such durring the hunt. When you factor in the number of tags and all the people each tag holder brings with them I have a feeling it's going to be a little crowded. My wife would be happy with just a good week out in the hills seeing some bulls, I know the size of the bull will not matter to her one way or the other.

Thanks for any help you might be willing to share.

I've hunted the "Berry" a ton and have found it to be a crowded place UNTIL to leave the road.

200yds, you'll lose 80% of the people
400yds, another 10%
800yds, another 5%
1200yds, another 3%

Past a mile (1760 yards) you will leave 98% of the people in your dust.
Simply get up and get off the roads. The remaining 2% of the people are the ones who I like to hunt around anyway.

Really...... this is the best advice I can give you.

My hunting friend has a tag this year and you might see our truck but you'll never see us if it's legal shooting light!

I can't wait until my daughter draws!

I sent you a private message! Good luck, send me back a pm if needed and I can get more info for you.

Thanks for the information guys, it will help out. I'm all ears if anyone has anything else too ad.

The area you know is a great area. Lots of people but most are riding roads and ATV's. Get off the roads and hit the bigger steeper dark timber stuff. You will find plenty of bulls that would make your wife happy! With a rifle all you need to do is chase bugles until you find the bull you want and then sneak in closer and pound him. (sounds easy but it still requires a lot of effort) You are in for a great experience!

Good luck!

Thanks again for all the feed back here and through PM, I'm starting to get a better feeling about this hunt.
