Co Unit 66 MZ Elk hunt

LAST EDITED ON Aug-09-10 AT 11:42PM (MST)[p]Hey guys, I just picked up a Co Unit 66 muzzleloader tag for elk, and am I'm feeling way blessed. I really look forward to the experience and will be driving from Mississippi to pack into the high ground for the duration.

If anyone has the same tag and wants to work together, you are welcome to chat with me about it. Likewise, if you like to share some of your hard-earned info or just good experiences there, then I'd love to hear from you too.

Also, if any of you have horses or know of someone there who does, I may end up needing help gettin' something out.

I'm still working on just where I will begin to hunt.

Try Fish Creek Canyon on the SW side of the Powderhorn Wilderness. There is a public access through private land off Cebolla Creek road, about 20 minutes south of Powderhorn.

Jeffpig - You might try Powderhorn outfitters or Mineral Mountain Outfitters. If John Martin is still around he will pack out a elk if he not tied up with other paying hunters. Powderhorn operates a base camp off Cebolla Creek Road.

Thanks Leonard, I have spoken with John. He's pretty busy but I think it's gonna work out.
I'm probably going to go up and hunt near the divide for an all around better experience.

Good luck Jeff and be careful on the drive, I also will be driving up from South Mississippi for the 2nd rifle for muley & elk in 33. What a long drive but i love it every year.
