Yea I was just here at work wondering how many great bulls were going to be arrowed today.

Dude... I lacerated my kidney in Canada last week and may not be able to hunt at all. Was planning on the last 2 weeks. I have a US Doc. appointment on monday. May be sending my tag back in on Tuesday. I talked to UT fish and game while still in Canada and I technically have until the end of the season to send it in cuz it's a medical condition, but I will know Monday if it's all blown up or not. Talk about a last minute downer.

Yes. I work for Utah State Parks and we always work weekends. So I am leaving work Sunday night and will start my hunt for deer in southern Utah on Monday morning. I have to be to work again Friday afternoon. I understand the mourning part. I woke up this morning and whispered to my wife Merry Christmas, and she said it back to me. She knows that the bow hunt is more important to me than any other holiday including Christmas.

Glad to see a few people in my boat, and good luck.

Elk, good luck with the doc, hope everything goes ok. Heck if you can hunt just hunt your butt off then if you dont kill turn it back in on the last day and say it was medical. :)

You guys aren't missing much. It was hot, hot hot. Saw some elk and hiked a lot, but it will be much better when they start talking.

On a side note some of the bulls are hard horned already and some still in the velvet.

I'll take hot hot hot, no elk seen over dealing with work for 3 more days. Dont tell me what i'm missing, or not missing!!!!

<sarcasm>!!!!

I chose to go out this morning rather than sleep in. LOL. I usually prefer to avoid the openers and hunt during the week. I hate dealing with the crowds. But with a LE elk tag in hand I figured I better get out anyways and wouldn't you believe it....we were hunting by ourselves! It was still hot, hot, hot though.

i was in this same shape many times over the last 30 some years, but the day came when I can hunt when I want on my time. Yes retirement is great and only a crazy person would not take it when you can !!
Good luck to you on your hunt and hang in there ,retire as young as you can,it's great !

I am with you guys as I am home and not up on my LE bow bull hunt.

I am home by choice though----Aug 26th thru Sept 17th are my vacation hunt dates.

With only 12 bow bull tags and NO spike/cow hunters in my LE unit....

I am in no rush.

I was supposed to work, but then my wife got an arrow in her first bull and called me crying when she found him. So I left and went and helped her get him out!

What'd she get justr?

I love not acting my age,
Damn I love my NASCAR race,
And Hell yes I love my Truck!

I took the opportunity to do some more scouting. Yep, lots of cows on the books and the bulls are not anywhere near them. Left around noon on Saturday to head back home... and now have two weeks of work before my hunt really starts. It was nice to get the bow out, but it was more for sentimental reasons that actually planning on using it...

By the way, do any Book Cliff Deer hunters get off the road? I didn't see anybody off the road, just more road hunters than I have ever seen in my life...
