Amazingly my trail cam survived a couple weeks alone in the wilderenss. Got this cool bull passing by a few times. I named him "Dr Evil". Any guesses on score? I get him at about 350

LAST EDITED ON Aug-22-10 AT 10:53AM (MST)[p]Cool bull. 350 is probably close. That bull is tricky. Good front end, great thirds, average width and then he seems a little weak on his royal and the back end. His mass may carry him though. He looks to have good mass on the front end so I would say 340-350ish is a good guess. Regardless, that is cool bull and would be very hard to pass on him. I bet he is at least 8-9 yrs old.

I like this bull! He's better than 350! I'm putting him aroung 365-370 probably bigger! He has incredible fronts, great thirds, and is decent on the backs. A little narrow but he's huge!

I just call em as I see em!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-22-10 AT 11:27AM (MST)[p]I think that mass and those 3rds will get him a little over 350. Very cool bull. I can't imagine passing a good shot on him no matter where I was bowhunting ! Put a tape on him and let us know. GOOD LUCK. Chip

Great bull, I guestimate him around 360.
I would not pass him up with a bow on any unit (I have not worked my way up to the 400 or above only crowd yet).

I have the rifle tag, so he will have to make it through the archery hunt before I get a shot at him. The way it's looking, he will be dead. There were a few guys chasing him around on Saturday.
I would shoot him in a heartbeat on the archery hunt, but with my tag I would probably hold off until I saw what else the Pahvant has to offer during the rutt.

Thanks for the comments,
HJB

BTW- The rutt is on! There was a big 360ish bull with about 30 cows bugling his head off most the morning. He was herding his cows all over the place. Seems a little early for that doesn't it???

Just got word that "Mossback" is after this bull, and a few others. They aren't too happy about me posting pics.
Sorry guys, just trying to share my scouting fun. Guess I need to hold all my pics til after my hunt so I quit getting nasty PMs.

Great bull. I would pull the trigger on him in a heartbeat.

Where I was at the rut definitely was not on. Not a peep and most the bulls holed up in the thick timber most the day and the ones we did see were solo or in bachelor groups still.

Screw them and their nasty pm's! You have every right to post the pics. Keep em coming and tell them to go to hell!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-22-10 AT 05:57PM (MST)[p]We watched this bull yesterday. He's just a big ol' freak nasty stud of a bull!! One of the guys in camp got some sweet video of him! An archery hunter got within 30 yards of him twice, but couldn't seal the deal. And where the heck was Mossback? I never saw any of them.... The archery hunter that got in on him was a DIY guy. What other bulls did you get on your cam in that area? Just wondering if the bull we were chasing made an appearance! Thanks for sharing the pics! That's awesome! Good luck come Sept!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-22-10 AT 06:03PM (MST)[p]Part of the fun on this site is getting the nasty pm's! :) post up more pictures if you have them, I think he is a killer bull! Plus they are your pictures of a bull on public land they cant tell you what to do with them!

Elkster,
I had 70 pics on my trailcam and 60 of the pics were of the same stinkin raghorn. THe rest were of this bull and a few other dinks.
Opening morning we found a sweet bull with about 30 cows. He was at least 360. He had everything except a weak 5th on his right side. He was in the same canyon as "Dr Evil". We made a stalk to within 50 yards to get some pics, but he kept hiding behind trees. Had some of his cows and spikes at 20 yards. Pretty sweet morning.

Great! now people know that there is a 350 bull on the Pahvant you A-hole.....

seriously, what kind of arrogant jerk would get mad at you for posting a pic from YOUR trailcam on a PUBLIC unit where YOU have a tag? It's not like you gave coordinates..

Awesome bull, I would smoke him with my LE muzzy tag next month!

That's a joke about Mossback... "Hey, stop posting pics of a bull on a public draw area...", "He's ours..." LOL The fact that it's public land, and your camera make it enough of a joke, but that it's an LE unit, where there are few tags anyway (Not like every hunter in the state can go in after him), even if you post the GPS coordinates, that's YOUR decision... Screw them.

I haven't bought a Mossback video since 2003... I respect some of the guides, and to an extent what Doyle does for some folks, but it just seems too commercial, and I hear too many crazy stories like this one...

Thanks for sharing

I've never been to Utah and don't mean to stir the pot; however; from what I've been reading on these threads, maybe there is a connection between stolen/missing trail cams and big money outfitters/guides?? I'm not sayin......I'm just sayin.

pre rut

I think he's a 350 type bull. He peters out on the back end and not much mass. I think he's young 5-6 year old. Cool pictures.

>I think he's a 350 type
>not much mass.

"Not much Mass"???
Are you looking at the same pics? I think he has sufficient mass.

HJB Thanks for sharing your trail cam pictures. That bull is awesome. Why have MonsterMuleys forum if a guy can't share a picture without getting a nasty pm from another hunter.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-23-10 AT 12:33PM (MST)[p]putting my numbers together I think this bull will go 378, good looking bull, I would shoot it.

Give or take 20 on judging off of a picture....pictures are always hard to judge things by.

When we watched the video in camp the other night we initially thought 350 as well. But then looking closer at him, we figured closer to 370. Only prblem with this bull is he's quite a bit shorter on his left beam. Guessin in the 40 inch range.... Still a shooter in book!

Hjb I give this bull 190 for main beams, inside spread, and mass. Then I'm getting over 20" on his first 3 points, 18" swords, and 10" fifths. That gives ma a grand total of 366. But I'm thinking his fronts are closer to 24! And with the devil tines he's huge!

I just call em as I see em!

I agree with the inside spread, beams and mass getting to around 190. I was a little smaller on the first three points I think they will average around 19 inches but I thought the royal would be 17 on one side and 15 on the small side with the 5th being 11 on one side and 8 on the other which got me to about 356 if you add in the devil pt. Put him on the ground and we will all find out.

Rest assured HJB nobody from mossback sent you a pm about this or any other bull. Hunt away hope you kill him. Good luck, post up some pics when you get him killed.

hey cut and paist up those pm,s. thanx for sharing the pic,s keep up the great posts. showing us how they are treating you will be good for all. as well as put the egg where it belongs.

There was a little confusion here.
The guy that got on this bull opening morning was with a guy that was "fomerly" a mossback guide. He is just helping his buddy out and not actually guiding him. The story was passed through a few guys before it got to me, so it came out a little funky.
So Mossback is not after this bull (As far as I know). But there are a few other hunters that are looking for him. One of the other guys hunting him was a little upset that I posted pics. But, I wasn't sure if anybody had even seen him when I found him on my trailcam.
Just wanted to clear the "Mind Games" up :p . Some of you that have nothing to do with this are a little too concerned about it.

I heard a nasty rumor that this bull was killed on Saturday. Is there anyone who can confirm or deny that?

I was not down there, but heard it from someone who was. And they were pretty sure it was this bulls that was taken.

He was hit on Saturday, but not killed. The archer hit him in the shoulder. The next day he was walking around just fine, so I think he will be alright.

I got this straight from the guys that shot him, and also a friend that watched the whole thing from across the canyon.

Hard to tell with the pics but I put him around 372 gross. He has great mass but narrow. I can't see 20 inch fronts but hard to tell. Can't wait to see the score.

It absolutely amazes me that soo many guys have been on this thing since the opener and he is stillup there alive running around in the hills. 370+ all the way.

Get him on the ground and I will tell ya a score. LOL
