Well as you guys know our hunting time this fall is limited. Opening day (yesterday) was really the only day she would be able to go. This summer we found a well used water hole so we put up the trailcam to see what we had. It was taking 70-80 pictures a day! She made a ground blind about 20 yds away. She got there before the sun even started to light the sky ready and waiting! Then about 7 a guy showed up and started traipsing around but never running into anything. He got on his wheeler and left after about an hour. She said "I think the elk knew he was there and waited for him to leave." She could still hear the 4 wheeler when 8 cows came in. They milled around and then started bedding down around her, all inside of 30 yds from her. Then "snubbs" came in and never presented a shot but bugging the crap out of the cows. He left them alone for a minute to get a drink. He turned slightly quartering away at 20 yds and put his head down to get a drink. Somehow with all the eyes she got drawn back and made a perfect shot going through both lungs and cutting the top of the heart off! Then all hell broke loose as elk ran in every direction. Her arrow did not go clear through staying inside his chest cavity making soup out of his vitals. He ran about 50 yards before stumbleing off the side of the very steep hill, rolling about 75 yds down before getting wedged in some deadfall! She called me and said she just shot "snubbs" but couldn't find him. She was trying to follow the blood trail but since the arrow didn't pass clear through he wasn't bleeding very much outside. I told her to sit down and calm down a bit then start looking. She called me back 5 minutes later crying because she was soooo happy! I was at work so I had to call my boss and ask him if I could go help her get her elk out, reluctantly he let me go. By the time I got there she had him cleaned and quartered, all but his frond right shoulder so she could show me her shot! Her, my dad and I helped pack It to the truck.
She loves to hunt elk but has never had a good chance at a bull until now. She took a cow at 30 yards 2 years ago after the perfect stalk (I was hanging back to watch).
She shoots a Bowtech Equalizer with 40# draw weight, gt arrows and muzzy 3 blades.
Picture is coming, I gotta restart and don't wanna lose the story.
