Dilemma...Suggestions??

My dilemma is that I have been scouting an area for 3 months now and I have seen some elk, but they are in an area that would be very difficult to hunt with the amount of time that I have. So Friday I decided to hike an area that I have hunted deer in, but have never seen elk there before. Well wouldn't ya know, right as the sun comes up there are 3 good bulls in the basin. I watched them for 2 hours and the biggest 6x6 was a monster.
So my question is?Would you risk trying to hunt that basin and general area on opening weekend? Like I said, they are the first elk I have seen there?I have seen sign in the past but no elk. I saw the 3 bulls 1 week before the season opens, so should I take my chances and hope they are still in the area? Just wondering what you guys would do in a situation like this.

If theres a bull there you wanna shoot go after him! you have your other place as a backup.

If you can stay on him hunt him. Sounds like a decent bull and you might as well give it a shot opening weekend. If it doesn't work out you have other spots to hunt as the season progresses.

Well...I guess I will be going after him, at least for the beginning of the season. That bull got me too pumped up...I will give it a go. Use the other area as a fall back if I cannot find him.

You're right elkhunter...It's not much of a dilemma, but I just hate when a wrench is thrown into my plan 1 week before the season. But that other area did not get me as excited as this bull did.

Thanks for the confirmation. Hopefully I'll have some pics next week

Put him to bed the evening of the hunt and give it hell the next morning Hope you find and kill him.

Keep tabs on him till the season opens and go after him but in the meanwhile find some more just incase he flys the coop. They have been known to disapear.
