California X7B(J20)

My son drew a junior tag in X7B (j20). Has anyone hunted this area before? Only 20 junior tags issued for this area. Wondering what to expect.

hey brian i got some friends that are camped up there for the
4th of july wk, they are scouting for archery and fishing, i will
get a report for ya by next wknd, so how was the top water bite?

Third cast this morning I nailed a 4.5 on a frog. Ended up with about 17 fish. Best five went 17#s total. It was windy in the morning, then had about 2 hours of good fishing, then all the lake lice and lake maggots showed up and screwed it all up.

Montana draws the first week in August. I might have to buy a new freezer if I have any luck at all with all the tags I've drawn so far.

The bad part about J19 and J20 is that they both run during the same period as the general season, so the only bonus is that the juniors could should a doe if they chose to. My boys both killed good bucks out of there last year and myself and 2 buddies will be up there during archery season this year. We have been scouting it quite a bit already and are seeing some pretty nice animals. Put your time in before the season and your son should definately get an opportunity to fill his tag with a good buck.
