So I get a call from the DWR last week, they inform me that someone has turned in a Dutton Late Elk tag, and I was next on the List. They wanted to know if I wanted to accept it or not. Ha! Like that is even a question! She made sure to point out I would loose all my LE Elk points if I accepted, so I made sure I pointed out that I had 0 points when I put in. THATS RIGHT - 0 POINTS!!! Looks like we are hunting the Dutton for the 3rd year in a row!!!!

Lucky bastage, CONGRATULATIONS! I am kinda in the same boat. I got the same call May 28th asking if I wanted my first pick (Dutton muzzle) due to another individuals misfortune and regretfully accepted (HA HA)! However, I had 10 points. Any suggestions for that rock since you spent a couple seasons down there? I can keep ya posted on what I see while I am down there on the muzzy hunt.

Ya, take a horse. We hiked down a couple of canyons last summer, just for the fun of it. Not recommended. I couldn't image packing a bull out of some of that stuff without a horse. Have you made a trip down there this summer?

Bess, at the time of the draw they randomly draw several alternates for each tag....so yes, it could be someone with ten...or zero...points waiting in line

2008 my Dad drew with 12 points
2009 my Uncle drew with 11 points
2009 my Mom's Uncle drew with 13 points
2010 I drew with 0 Points.

3 years, 4 family members.

Bess, I saw the list while they printed out my tag. There was someone in front of me that had declined. Lucky for me!

If that aint BS and lucky at the same time. But congrats to ya. WE will be down there also for the late season got two tags this year. Them canyons aint to bad we hunted with out horses and hauled 2 nice bulls out of there on the backs last year

You lucky dog!! One of my buddy's had almost the same thing happen on the Henry's archery but he had more points than 0!!

It wasn't me who turned my tag in this year on Dutton....I didn't draw. I had switched my application to Preston Nutter Ranch this year and I didn't draw it with 15 pts......Any way let's see the pictures of the elk you harvested on Dutton the last three years highcountryfever? Congrats some guys are just lucky.
