Well after going after it hard for the last three weeks, it paid off. We put the bull down at around 7:30 AM and spent the rest of the day getting it off the mountain. I need to throw a HUGE shout out to my in laws. I had two of them with me this morning and two more hiked in to help out as soon as they knew we had one down. Not to mention all the help they provided over the last three weeks. I rarely had to hunt alone! Huge THANKS to team Loveridge!

Ok now for what you all are waiting for....the pictures.

And if you want, lets here your guesses on score from all the armchair experts.

WoW!! How cool is THAT!! I'll bet, real Cool!!!

Congrats Alp!! :) Massive sucker!

I'm not that great at guessing Elk but... How's 350" sound??

Joey

Very cool bull. I love elk with a little character. I'm going to say 315-320ish but who cares about the score. Nicely done with a primitive weapon!

It's always an adventure!!!

Nice Bull. Looks like he has a lot of mass. Good tine length up front. I would put him at 340-350, but Awholelottabull has scored a lot more elk than me. No way I would of passed him up.

Nicely done!!! That's a great bull. Post up the story when you get a chance.

Cheers,
Pete

I'd love to hear the lengths guys are guessing with their scores. I think 7 X 7s fool a lot of people, makes the back end look smaller. Extra mass, trash, above average width help this bull get past shorter than average mains.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-12-10 AT 11:20AM (MST)[p]whatever dude. let me tell u guys the real story......

alp rode his four wheeler illegally off road in the san juan found this bull on the cwmu i am currently on and poached this bull with a rifle on private ground. ive been watching that exact bull for hours and 30 minutes later i hear a wheeler, 29 shots and a wheeler draggin that bull out headin to the wasatch. last i heard him shout to his buddy that he was heading to the wasatch to take pictures.

Congrats Adam!!!!! BTW... that bull is no where near 330. It's funny how far off people can guess a big bull from a photo. I think hardhorn is right on. The trash and the mass get this bull way above 330. Everyone wil be suprised when he posts the measurements. Come on Alp.... post up!

That's an awesome bull! I hope I'm lucky enough to get a bull like that in two months! Congratulations and I say its around 340-350 ish.

That sucker is a specimen. He's a warrior. How can his B&C score mean a thing other than satisfy curiosity. Hang that beast on your wall and enjoy every aspect of his majesty. Congrats, your investment paid dividends!

The arm chair experts are at it again, that bull is well over 350. I'd have to say easy 370, but to be specific something like 372 plus or minus. That bull has killer fronts and killer mass. Just a guess, but I really think you guys are under guessing that sucker. He's a monster. Hands down a freakin awesome bull.

Thats a mean old bull man. Nice work. Who cares on the score!?!?1 The mass, trash and fronts oh yeah and coloring etc :) Trophy of a lifetime!

Congratulations on taking a great bull off the Wasatch!

When you kill one that big with a bow you must know that you paid your dues.

I love the "red stag" type crowning. Very cool.

Excellent photos too.

I will be up there with a friend this weekend for the rifle hunt. We HOPE to take a bull with the class of yours.

Great Bull!!! Who cares about the score, that bull is heavy, wide, has character, and great length in his tines. The only thing he lacks is a little in the back end on his 5ths and his main frame length. Other than that he looks awesome. I bet those fronts go 20, same with the 4ths, and 3rds must be at least 18 (except the one that is broke) I'd guess a score but right or wrong I'd be shot down by some expert on here. By the way, NETS ARE FOR FISH!!! I'm sure it was a great hunt- you got to do it with family, you had success (which doesn't seem like there has been a lot of), and I'm sure you enjoyed the thrill and excitement of archery hunting. Congrats, my opinion don't post a score. WHO CARES.

Dude, What the *&%#@$? Joking or not joking are you seriously posting something like that on here. How can you dare take a way from the glory of this guys hunt?

This post was intended for stinkystomper not the hunter that killed a great bull.

Tooele you've got to give me your guestimates for mains, mass, width, etc. I want to know what you're seeing.

I think I'm starting to see Stinky's angle. He needs to work on his sarcasm though, then more people could laugh along. He's had me scratching my head a few times. I think he's got the MMers all figured out though, makes me laugh.

Green Drake, For a new member, you sure seem to have a high opinion of yourself!

You said, "Congrats, my opinion don't post a score. WHO CARES."

Alp himself asked what we thought the bull might score! It's not a big deal to do so in these pages but it can be fun to guess and help with judging skills. Relax some and lets not make this a thread about you!!!

Again, great Bull Alp, my favorite so far this season! 355? :)

Joey

Hey there bayside, nobody is knocking that bull. You make it sound like somebody is trying to insult this animal. There wasn't a negative comment on here until you posted. Way to take the high road. I am anxious to see the score. I think it's a trophy just like every other poster on here. I wouldnt hesitate to draw back on that animal if for nothing other than the character. That's a once in a lifetime bull.

It's always an adventure!!!

Congrats ALP, it was great being a part of your hunt. What a way to end a lot of early mornings and tired legs. Looks like you will have some guesses all over the board. More important than any score is that the bull has lots of character and provided some memories we won't forget even if it is 315, 330, or 370 the fun we had chasing is what its all about. I guess I'm not allowed to guess if I saw it scored, Am I? By the way Great shot ;-) , the trip out was worth the tired legs I am recovering from. Thanks for letting me tag along. Next time you need a director just let me know.

AWHOLELOTTABULL, I've followed a bunch of your posts through these forums. I think you're right on the money almost everytime. That's why your score on this bull gets me curious, and I mean this with as much respect as I can convey. I know what the bull scores, or should say is close to since I've taped it, but just want to know some guesses on what you and others are seeing. I say this because I want to know for my own scoring and judging what is the trickiest part about bulls like this. We had an even crazier bull last year that scored big with only 39 1/2 mains. Our figures were within 2 inches of the official score so I think I'm taping them close.
Like I mentioned earlier, I think 7 Xs make the back end look dinky. You'll notice I never throw numbers out there because I think I suck at it. I'm just curious to see what numbers guys are using to score him.
I know I stir the pot sometimes here (no such thing as a big three point buck) but I'm just want to try to learn from some educated guesses.

Well, thanks for all the comments. It's always fun to see what people think about a good animal. I am not shocked by some of the low score guesses at all. I myself had to be convinced (and made fun of a bit) this was not a 330 or 340 bull. But we threw a tape on him twice and here's what we came up with.

He had over 62" of mass and 44" width.

RS Antler

Main 47 7/8
g1 19 4/8
g2 17 1/8
g3 13 5/8
g4 19 6/8
g5 8 7/8
g6 2 6/8

H1 9 1/8
H2 7 7/8
H3 7 1/8
H4 6 5/8

RS Antler

Main 46 3/8
g1 18 3/8
g2 19 1/8
g3 19 6/8
g4 20 2/8
g5 8 3/8
g6 4

H1 10 1/8
H2 7 5/8
H3 7
H4 6 6/8

Width 44

Total 372!

He also has a broken third on the RS.

Like Others Congrats! Nice to not make us wait too much longer on the score. Now if you don't mind, let's hear more about how you got that great bull on the ground.

Also explain to us how you think that arrow killed him so quick. Maybe a vet could help us out, and explain what percentage of bull have their boiler rooms located near the caboose.

I imagine he had a quartering away shot and took out the liver and the lungs on the way through. He wouldn't last long with that damage.

>>>---shots that are true pass right through--->

Truth is I got lucky. I had a 40 yard broadside shot between a couple bushes. I took the shot and hit him 16 inches behind where I was aiming. I am guessing the arrow hit a branch and deflected it or he took a step forward. Wish I had it on tape to see what really happened. The arrow actually exited out near the hind quarter. I got lucky and got the diaphragm and I think an artery. He made it about 300 yards before going down for the count.

PM sent. I in no way want to publicly critique this bull. He's too cool of a bull and inevitably somebody is going to take what I say as a slam. Again, very very cool bull. Character trumps score every time for me!!!

It's always an adventure!!!

Alp, again congrats. I would have never guessed that on that bull. Especially the numbers you got for main beam length. I was basing my score off of a 5x5 we got in 2005. He scored 357 2/8 with a 59 1/2 inch spread. Here is the link to the picture. This bull just seemed to be a lot longer on the tines than your bull. Some bulls can just be really deceiving. I've been on hunts where I thought the bull was bigger than he was and it was all due to a compact rack. Again, I hope you didn't think I was minimizing you accomplishment. It's obvious it's a wall hanger.

372 is a great bull, he does look good with all the stuff he has going for him, My guess would of been in the 350's those 5th are what throws you off.
ONCE again this is a fine bull, I hope to get one that big one day.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

Alp - I followed your hunt each day through the Loveridge boys... what an adventure! That bull is an absolute TOAD! Great mass, width and especially character. What a cool bull! You have got to be happy with how things turned out. Congrats on a great hunt. That will be a memory that will stick with you forever. Those Loveridge boys know how to get it done!!!

Congratulations on an awesome bull. I've never scored a bulls antlers so I withheld any score guesses. I was feeling mid 350's. I way under estimated the mass score. Reguardless of score, I had told myself it's a shooter when I saw the pics. I hope to see something like him next week.

Here is a clip of some of the close calls we had during the hunt. We had a couple more that weren't caught on tape as well. Glad it all came together.

Sweet clips Alps75.

Care to share your hunting spots? A friend and I will be on the mountain this weekend for the rifle hunt.

Congrats again on taking a great bull.

Zeke

Nice bull probably 330-335ish. Well I killed a nice 5 point on sept 3 but it seemed like a monster to me considering I'm 15 and its my first animal with a bow

Alp,

Awesome video clip. Very nicely done. Great filming and editing. Could have been a clip in any one of the elk videos at Cabelas. That was very cool to watch that 7x7. Thanks for posting it up.

Pines n tines,

My brother in law took the footage and edited the video. He deserves all the credit along with a lot of the credit of me getting the bull I did (along with all my brother in laws). I couldn't have done it without them. Thanks!

Thanks for posting that alp!! It doesn't get any better than that. Is your heart rate and blood pressure back to normal by now? :D

It's always an adventure!!!

Awesome video footage, that sure gets the blood pumping.

You killed a great bull, congratulations. Thanks for sharing the pictures and video with us.

Hopefully I can find that big 7x7 this weekend (I'm sure I won't); he's a beautiful bull.

If I would have seen this post earlier I would have guessed him right at 372 or so. :) No........ this bull had me fooled as well. Great bull, Great hunt!

I will be posting up another version of the video clip that will have my bull in it's final moments edited in. We don't get the actual kill shot as it is blocked by a few trees, but you can see this bull on the hoof just prior to the shot. Maybe we can even throw in a little footage we have of this bull from last year.
