Give me your honest opinions on this one is it worth hiring a guide in region G or doing it yourself. If you were to choose a guide who would you choose. It sounds like a lot of people are ripping on Region G does a guide really give you that much of an advantage in this unit?

Hey Tooele, you don't need to hire a guide, in fact, I've got a guy in Afton who used to guide who will take you for free. Just be prepared to put a lot of miles on the old boots. Don't plan on taking any horses up my honey hole either.

Hey T, I got pulled for Region G a couple of years ago and hired DoubleDiamond Outfitters to drop me in one of their camps; we had an excellent experience. I didn't get pulled this year, however if I did....or when I do I will contact them again. Incredible country and at that time a good number of quality bucks. Good luck!

Hey Tooele,

If you live close enough to get up there and scout a few times, and are in very tip top physical shape, I would recommend a diy hunt. But if you can't get up there to scout, and you haven't been doing your off season training, you may want to hire a guide. If you decide to go with a guide, I recomend highly, Non-typical outfitters.

Good Luck!

I second that Non Typical Outfitters recomendation, top notch outfit which is still reasonablly priced. Good luck and shoot to kill!

Has anyone heard of Clegg's backcountry guide and gear. I talked to the owner and he said that they have the best reputation in Wyoming for taking trophy bucks and whitetail in Florida?

I "third" Non-Typical Outfitters. If you call them tell Robb & Brenda that Lance from American Falls says hello. Check out their website:

I know of the Clegg outfitters. They are a top notch outfit, but it is hard to find much info on them anymore. I think that the guy in charge became fed up with licence and tag issues and just hunts birds now. I don't know that they ever did anything in Florida though. Tooele, if you want a big whitetail you may want to try Iowa.

Scouting is the key. If you can't you do need a guide if you want a reasonable chance at a good buck.
