Big Elk by Currant Creek

Saturday evening just before dark I was on I40 heading back home to Roosevelt. We had just passed Soldier Creek heading down the canyon towards the Currant Creek gas station.
My wife noticed an elk right next to the road in the beaver dams.
We stopped to look along with a couple of cars behing us. He was a HUGE bull. He had at least 7 on one side and every tine was long. His rack was very dark. I tried to take a couple of pics with my phone but they didnt turn out. I noticed that the cars behind were all snapping photos with cameras.

I wanted to see if anyone has a pic of this bull or knows anyone from the other cars who took them. I'd like to see a pic of him.

Thanks

I hope he's still alive and around that area. We'll be there for the LE elk opener on Saturday.

chet, Are you just starting BS rumors or were some elk really killed there? Did you see them or just pulling our leg?

I drove through there on Sunday and saw the big elk carcass by the road. I didn't get a real good look at it, but judging by the size it was most likely a bull.

That sucks! Another one bites the dust. I can't wait to see the story the "hunter" makes up about how he got the big one!

Now on our hunt we'll have to settle for a 280" bull. JK
