New Mexico unit 30 mulies

i drew a tag to hunt at the end of october. Does this area have any good hunting? What kind of deer can we expect to see? What is considered a trophy and an average deer in this area?

i havent been able to find any good info on the web..

LAST EDITED ON Jul-26-06 AT 02:44PM (MST)[p]I haven't ever hunted that unit for deer but I have spent a lot of time in the area shooting rabbits and hunting antelope.

There are quit a few deer in the unit but it gets hunted hard. I have seen soom really nice deer (160-170)in the hills and draws south of hope in december and have heard there was a real monster seen in the area last year. However most deer in the area are typically six to 10 points with weak mass where a good buck would go 130-140.

Your best bet is to get of the roads and glass early mournings and late evening. Pushing the draws can also be effective. However like I said I haven't ever really hunted this unit for deer. Good luck

there's good place name Texas Hill, Red Hill, but lots of pressure! near Queen Town
