I shot this bull Thursday night with my father-in-law and brother-in-law right by my side. He fed out in front of me 45 yds and I was able to tuck it right behind his shoulder and get a complete pass thru double lung shot. He spun and ran downhill only to tip over 50 yds from where I shot. As you can see this bull was in a pretty intense battle breaking his main beam on the right side. Broken or not I couldn't be happier with him, this is my first archery elk and I took him in a unit that had an overall 6% success rate last year for ANY elk!!!

Can't complain about that, especially when the success is that bad.

TICK
TALL, WIDE, AND HANDSOME

Thanks guys!!!

Backpacker, yes we were hunting pretty high, somewhere between 10,000 and 10,500 feet. They were bugling pretty good after the muzzy hunt, I heard bugles just about everyday between Sept. 18th and the night I shot him. They weren't bugling alot, but they were bugling just enough so I could close in on them. The night I shot this bull, he did not bugle once. He had about 20 cows and a small 3x4 with him, the day before he was responding to cow calls only but I was unable to get a shot in the black timber.
