Ok guys, I'm sure some of you have seen the ads going on the site for our 2006 Big Buck and Bull Contests. So, any guesses on how big the biggest buck in the contest will be?
What state will produce the biggest buck in 2006, whether entered in our contest or not?

I'm going to say the biggest buck in the contest will be 245 gross.

I think that giant of the year will come from BC Canada. ???

What do you guys think?

PS - I've been having dreams of a monster 240 buck standing in my crosshairs, so.........I might just win the contest. LOL

IS THERE A PRIZE FOR THE SMALLEST BUCK OF 2006???

I BELIEVE THE WINNER OF THE SMALLEST BUCK WILL COME OUT OF THE COVETED N.E.REGION!!!

YOU'VE MENTIONED NUMBERS THAT ARE BEYOND ANY REASONABLE BELIEF IN NOMAD LAND!!!

I DON'T BELIEVE THERE'D BE ANY REASON FOR ME TO ENTER A BIG BUCK CONTEST,THANKS TO PISS POOR MANAGEMENT & OPPORTUNITY IT JUST AIN'T HAPPENING!!!

HOW BOUT IT FOUNDER,IF YOU'RE HUNTING AN AREA(BIG BUCK AREA!!!) LIKE THAT WOULD YOU MIND ME HUNTING WITH YOU???

I'LL TRADE MY NOMAD REGION TAG CUZZ I KNOW YOU AIN'T HUNTING THE COVETED REGION!!!

I'M WILLING TO PUSH DRAWS,PUSH THICK $HIT,HUNT STEEP $HIT OR WHATEVER IT TAKES TO SEE/SHOOT AT A 220"+ BUCK!!!

I'D EVEN SETTLE FOR A 210" BUCK,I'M NOT PICKY AT ALL!!!

THE ONLY bobcat WAITING FOR FOUNDERS RESPONSE!!!

The buck I will be chasing has about the same score but is in a different area. There are a few guys on this website that have seen the picture. He is a FREAK! If I get him then I think I'll take the contest.

What am I going to win? LOL

Founder, You goin to B.C. this year? Whens the season start up there? If you are I guess I'll trapse over to where you killed the bucks in Wyoming a couple of years ago HEHEHE.

I'd say we need to look at the typical and nontypical categories. Typical will come from Colorado. Nontypical will be from Alberta, with Arizona, Nevada and Utah strong contenders in the nontypical category. If I have to pick a hunter, I'm going with Randy Ulmer. I just have the feeling that he'll have another nontypical lined up somewhere in Nevada. He may not post it on MM, but I'm betting he'll stick a whopper again this year.

One thing I'm confident in is that I won't even see a buck the equal of the one that wins until he's posted on MM. But I'll slobber just like everyone else when the pics are posted.

Good luck to everyone this fall. And I hope BOBCAT gets that trophy two-point out of the coveted NE region. I'd still like to see that picture :)

I'm going to lay my money on old Bessy this year. I have a feeling he's going to take it all! :)

Drum, if you knock down that monster buck you've been eyeing you'll be my new hero. ;-) Seriously, good luck man. That thing is a BRUTE!!!

Brian, it was good to see you at the RAC meeting last night. It'll be interesting to see where things end up...

So,

What about if your the guide and score on a big buck. Will that count in the contest?

If the hunter is not in the big buck contest?

My guess is 242 out of Nevada to win the big buck contest.
The Bull will come out of Arizona.

I think it will be CO. NV and B&C will be top contenders. And, yes it will be me that takes it all. Honestly it's usually a lucky hunter with no clout that kills the biggest buck, as it should be.

"Who's going to win our Big Buck Contest?"

Some rich guy who bought yet another auction tag to hunt a premium unit for his 10th straight year with 12 guides who spent the entire summer tracking every single deer within a 100 mile radius so Mr Rich can show up and hunt for 1 hour just to get his picture on the cover of a hunting magazine to show how cool he is.

No love for the great state of Idaho. I know there are a few monsters still calling Idaho home. Hopefully my luck will be good this year and I will bag a dandy.

223 Non-Typical

RE: I-D-A-H-O

WHat if it has velvet and scores 290 and I already killed it, does that count?? (hypothetically)

RE: BC??? Probably CO Will Win

I say Prisim will win it cause its about time he shot a decent buck.

244 non-typical from Northern Utah... he is all but tied to a tree. Been feeding him alfalfa, has his own mineral block.... and Founder has a video of him from this spring..

Saskatchewan definately has a chance to have the biggest buck taken, wether very many people will hear about it is another story. The thing about the deer that come out of here is that not many of you guys down south ever see them. There are many big bucks up here that never see the pages of a magazine or are entered in the book. There was a 210 net typical taken here last year ( I think it may have been in the last King's Outdoor World. There was also that 275 net non-typical in velvet. There has been 270 plus non-typical's taken the last 3 years in a row. A guy in our town took a 250's gross 240's net non-typical last year and I have never seen it in any of the magazines although I expect it will be in Big Buck. The one guy who shot a 270 in 2004 had the head laying in an old shed for weeks after he shot it. He wasn't even going to have it mounted. We do pretty good up here for the very small herd size compared to the US. I think they estimate the number of mule deer in the whole province at under 60 000.

I'm going to go out on a limb here guys. My money for the winner of the Big Buck contest will be...

CASS

From what I have read over the past fews years here, he has already got this contest in the bag, or tree, or barn, or freezer, or over in his friends - sisters - boyfriends - uncle's - son's garage.

Then I predict he will follow it up with a monster Elk from Nv as well.

This will be the year of the "CASS"

- Rich

j/k Cass. Don't take it seriously.
