How my professors can expect me to focus on school with my Idaho elk hunt opening tomorrow I'll never know! It's finally here baby, can't wait to get up to the mountain this evening, I'll keep y'all posted

I once had the option of hunting Wyoming moose on opening day or skipping a physics exam. Yep, had to re-take physics during the spring semester. I did kill a excellent bull, though!

Never failed a test, but I have lost a couple jobs to the archery elk hunt.

My brother in law drew the manti any weapon tag in 2004.....
It was too late to drop my finance class without a $300 fee. I still decided to tag along. Looking back I owe my current hunting addiction to that awesome week in late September. I had to take that class over again but never regreted having to pay the fee...........

"That's a special feeling, Lloyd"

I had a teacher tell us that hunting is not an excused absence. He did a test and three hunters missed it. I guess you just need to decide what is most important. Elk sounds fun, but if you get school out of the way know, then someday you can hunt in Idaho, Arizona, Nevada...anywhere you want. Good luck on your hunt.

I went to a high school who gave x amount of days of excused time off for hunting season.

I thought it was pretty awesome but look back on it and say man, what a different world it was back then.

As of right now, I have 4 midterms scheduled for the week before my late elk hunt. I have to keep telling myself it will be worth it when it is over.

Good luck on your hunt!

I remember when I was in high school, a friend and I had a plan to go on a spring bear hunt in Montana. We had it approved through the school, and as an approved absense. We each had to write an essay, do a certain amount of research regarding black bears, and a couple other little things, but nothing major really. Unfortunately, we did not get to go on that hunt, as we were broke high school kids. But we sure had the OK from the school.

That was only 8 years ago, so I guess the moral of the story is, keep your grades up, and be willing to compromise with the school administration (not the teachers, they have no say in whether the absense is excused or not), then you are good to go. It may sound like a long shot, but you know how that saying goes.

Later,

Marcial

Ha I'm in college so "being absent" isn't a big deal my point was when it's time to hunt that's all I can think about. I've enjoyed reading everyone else's posts, seems like many on here suffer from the same addiction I have. Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow evening with some pics of a nice bull!
