I will be hunting around Broadus Montana this year and any help on this area would greatly be appreciated. This will be my first year hunting this area so if any of you have hunted Southeast montana I would like some pointers: how many deer, any big deer, best block management/public hunting grounds? thanks for your help I truly appreciate it, muley7

Depending on where you are from, you will probably see more deer than you have ever seen before. It is in my opinion the best area that I have ever seen, to shoot a 160 - 175 class Muley. The genetics for that class of deer are awesome and because of the minerals, the deer produce really dark brown, heavy racks. I have seen a 190 plus, muley from the road, but he was on land, that I could not access.

The problem, with Broadus is all of the private ranch land is tied with outfitters who lease it for their clients. I would estimate that 85 percent or more is that way. There is block management, but it gets hits pretty hard by everyone else.

I was lucky enough to meet a rancher in town while having beers, that let me hunt his ranch. I can't tell you who that is, but I may have some ideas for you if you are doing a self-guided hunt. If you are being outfitted, than don't worry, you will shoot a nice buck.

I don't know how to post pics, but if you send me a PM with your email, I'll show you the kind of bucks you can expect.
