First time Elk Hunting and I shot one the first day!

After 5 years of planning and applying we finally drew. We went on a 4 day scouting trip in July and arrived 2 days before the opener to scout some more. I never thought that after so much anticipation and waiting that it would all be done by the first evening. A little bit of cow calling and I couldn't believe my eyes when he topped the hill. There were 3 of them coming and he was the one that arrived first. He stopped broadside at 8 YARDS and bugled. After I shot him the second one showed up and watched him fall over, he was even bigger!!
