Do you think the elk wil still be bugling for my hunt this weekend?

What calls do you recomend I use?

I dont know maybe Im just freaking out for no reason.

Thanks

The bulls were still bugling quite heavily on the lower elevation areas of the Pahvant, on October 3rd. They seem to rut a little later in the lower elevations of that unit.

I would recommend leaving the calls in camp and using your ears. When you hear bulls screaming at each other, just quietly work your way toward them. Make sure the wind is coming toward you, and slip in and kill the one you want. If you bugle or cow call, they will want to herd up and move out for some reason. It's like they recongnize each other, but when a stranger shows up, they don't like confrontations.

This guy is 100% correct!
Leave the toys in camp (take your tag and your knife, you'll need them).

The pecking order has been established and most calling will upset the elk's apple cart. Call ONLY if you have to for location purposes only.
