My father and I finally drew our first late buck tag - Slidge Ridge. Never hunted this area before. If anyone is willing to share some information; that would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

If it were me, I'd talk my dad into buying a couple good spotting scopes and I'd start by glassing the upper 2/3rds of North Fork Creek. And wherever you get into the deer in there, I would find a good glassing point and sit there til I found a buck I wanted to go after. And if you don't find one you want that day I'd keep going back, those bucks seem to rotate through almost daily for some reason.

P.S. Some of it's a little steep!!!

Your not going to get much better advice than the first response, steep terrian up there, I would concentrate on the eastern part of the unit.

PPS very steep.

and i would call the wenatchee office and see if you could get a couple names of guys that had the tag last year.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-11-06 AT 11:11PM (MST)[p]Hey there... Great job on drawing that tag. I had the same tag last year. I wanted to share my pics, but I can't seem to upload them. He was a 174 gross buck.

All I can say is pray for snow and that the fires die out soon. Have fun and let us know how you do.

P.S look for a silver Ford F350, with a huge huge buck in the back because my cousin drew the tag this year too. See ya there

i can post them for you. Cant wait to see them and hear your story. How did you like all that snow you had???

just email them to me- [email protected]

I had the Swakane late tag last year!! Love it.

The bucks will be in the rut and moving down valley. I would hunt the Entiat Side at about snow level or a little higher. There is a lot of road access. Take a look at the area behind Silver Falls and up toward Stormy Mountain. If you have time to be pick, you will see a lot of mature bucks so hold off for the one you want.

Garrett ,

saw your pics from last year what an awsome buck.My uncle Ron and I both drew the slide Ridge tag. It was unbelievable. The snow was great. It makes hunting so much more fun.

We shot our bucks the first day we were there! I will send you my pics. Thanks I'm not sure why it won't let me upload them?

Awesome job on a couple gorgeous deer. And your buck is a stud, look at the head on that damn thing, it almost makes the antlers smaller haha. Awesome buck. Congrats. I will be returning your email. Thanks for sharing.
