I just wanted to post this in case someone finds/finishes off the bull I hit yesterday morning(oct 9th) on the general hunt. He is not mortally wounded and won't die from where the shot hit him, but it will slow him down. He stepped forward as I shot and I hit him above the left knee as he was quartering away. I'm not quite sure how high it hit but I did find tan hair as opposed to dark brown so I'm pretty sure he will be feeling it. I didn't find any bone chips and there wasn't much blood in the hoof print. he was bleeding for the 4 or 5 miles that I tracked him, I caught up to him once but couldn't get a shot. I gave it everything I had yesterday trying to make up for my horrible shot. I finally had to turn back out of sheer exhaustion. He was up in some nasty country. Give me all the grief you want about ethics or whatever but I will not quit looking for this bull. The odds of someone else finding him are very slim because he was nowhere near any trail and a very long way up a basin in a wilderness area. I would really appreciate knowing if anyone does happen to finish him off because I won't stop looking for him until I get some closure and I would hate to spend the next week and a half looking for a needle in a haystack that has already been found. I scouted this bull the past couple months and would love to just know that he isn't just wasting away dying a slow death up there. Hopefully I can find him. PM me if you need to or if you have any info or advice on how a bull would act when wounded like that. This is a VERY big bull for this area, I killed a 325 bull there last year and this bull is bigger than that. Please let me know if you know anything. I don't think I need to say which area he is in, the determining factor will be the wound you find on his back leg. thanks
