Hit bull on 10-2... Moon Ridge/Canyon area... 5 hunting buddies + 3 days, never located... An honest hunt, honest 68 yard shot, an honest effort to find... any help would be appreciated!

I feel your pain and loss. I wish I could help. Just knowing that you've done everything in your power to recover your bull, and never gave up should be some comfort to you.

These things are going to happen from time to time. These elk are extremely tough. It's almost like they're armoured in solid titanium. Seriously, I've seen Cape Buffalo give up easier. I've been told that when shooting at an elk, you should keep shooting until it stops moving, then shoot it again, just to make sure. I'm starting to think you should keep shooting until you run out of ammo, then go back and get some more to finish him off.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-11-10 AT 02:41PM (MST)[p]Was this an archery hunt?

Bopa_lupa_bop "ethics police" will be here shortly criticizing you for wounding an animal with anything besides a rifle.

Best of luck finding him, we have all been there!

Hey Jeff- it may be worth it to give Brett Nielsen a call...he's probably guiding out there again this year. I hope you find it! I know you and Kyle worked and hiked your butts off for that bull. Dang the luck!

Hey JACKASS(Coyote_chaser)

Ain't criticizing nobody, just wished a few Hunters that think they are Pro's would take just a little extra time for shot placement,no matter what weapon they are using!

It's gonna happen no matter the weapon, but after seeing a TARD take a 175 yard shot on an LE Bull and talking to a few others Bragging they had wounded 2-5 animals(and I don't care what weapon they use)it's total BULLSSHIT!

As seen in any of my posts you'll see where I gave credit to Hunters it happened to,that punched their tag/quit hunting and gave their all in to retrieval/recover of their animal!

I went to school with the guy that started this thread & his brother,I hope Jeff recovers the Bull!

i understand your position BUT i am tired of reading about people advertising that they wounded an animal.no matter the reason or weapon.it just does not make us look good. good luck i do hope you find him.

I disagree, better to get the word out as much as possible to try and recover the elk even if it does show how many animals get wounded due to hunting.

LOL, showin your colors!! :)

Ironic that you never get on here and spew your bull chit when its a muzzy/rifle that lost an elk, but if its an archery hunter you start pullin all sorts of stats and reports out your a$$ condemning archers!

I wanna hear you preaching to the 700+ yard rifle shooters that shoot across canyons and never go look for blood or an animal, too bad they dont get on here and brag so bop_a_lu_lu can ethics police them!

By the way, I know of 3 bulls that were wounded and not found on the RIFLE elk hunt that were not posted on MM. I am sure there are many more we never hear about! Damn archers though!!!

Wow Coyote,

A whoppin 3 not reported on MM huh?
You'd best open your f'n eyes & pay more attention to what's been posted!
It's Puzzies like you that can't handle the truth!

A whoppin 3 huh! lol thats just from close friends!! I am sure they are the only 3 wounded and lost on the rifle hunt for sure!! You need to stop drinking the kool aide and manage your own ranks in the rifle world. Idiots shooting at running bulls 400 yards away and not even following up on a shot!

I pay attention to whats posted, I just feel dumber when I read your posts. I better see your a$$ jumpin all over any rifle hunters that hit and lose a bull, cause we all know if an archer puts up a post bopa_lu_lu "ethics police" will be on site blowing his whistle!!!!!!
