LAST EDITED ON Oct-12-10 AT 12:04?PM (MST)

From a proud Dad...my 12-year-old son withstood freezing morning temps, false alarms by deer while still hunting, and my constant "help" to calmly kill this beautiful cow at 175 yards with one shot from his .30-30. We lost it after the shot so he took off to "look for blood". I stayed to direct him. He didn't need my help. Soon I heard, "I found blood"...on an aspen leave, followed by "I found the animal!" She went only 30 yards. What a PERFECT day! It just doesn't get any better than this.

Thanks,
Don

Congrats-that is a great story and what it is all about. Brings back great memories of my first big game animals, all shared with my Dad.

Love the picture and the smile!

Nothing more perfect than that!

Congratulations to the young hunter from this ole hunter.
That elk probably looked huge to the young hunter when he walked up on it! Lots of delicious meat!

I hope I get a cow as big as yours. Yes..... I will be hunting antlerless elk this year!

Zeke

Congratulations to both of you. I know that you are proud and he is happy.

My son and I have been hunting together for 36 years. We will leave for our annual Elk hunting trip next week. Just the two of us together for two weeks. It just doesn't get any better than that !!!

Before you die.....Take time to live
