Why oh why have I done the any bull elk hunt the last 3 years. Saw a group of cows last year and felt cool. I don't get it how guys like me that like to hunt a lot get sucked into thinking this is the year it will all change. LE elk hunts only for me, maybe someday :), from now on and oh yes the general deer hunt!

Sure there are people that get bulls on the any bull units but I'm guessing they worked their asses off more so than I am willing to do to see that maybe one bull one the mountain.

Have hunted Strawberry Point on Cedar mountain and haven't seen anything other than those nice ole cows.

Forgive me for my rant.

Anyone got some cool stories or pics from any bull hunts? Or what are some other thoughts on the any bull hunts? Does Utah know that there are no bulls on these mountains?

Between the late cow hunts the DWR and the Ute tribe issu, elk hunting on the south slope is a joke. Out of state, spike hunt, or LE only for me.

What cracks me up is how many people are so hungry to just hunt, that they keep buying tags every year.

I enjoy the any bull hunt. We can buy a permit and go hunting. If you are not seeing elk then change what you are doing. I shot a spike with my 11 year old in tow this year and have killed a few bull over the last decade, the biggest a 320ish 6x. We hunt the South Slope. There are three types of Any Bull elk hunters-- those who do the work, those who ride the roads, and those who do the killing. It is a great time to get out and hunt.

The spike hunt success rate is close to the Any Bull units.

Nice bull! ... I love the general season elk hunt gives me a chance to hunt! My son shot a Big 5X6 last year and I shot a rag 5x5 this year ... great times to be together but we did hunt hard and way away from the road!
