I was able to take this bull during the 2nd rifle season. I also filled my cow tag and my hunting partner killed a bull also. These were the first elk for my friend and myself. It was the third trip to Colorado for me and the first for my friend. The winter storm ran off most of the hunting pressure that this area usually gets. Beings we had just drove 1630 miles, we were not going to give in to a little storm. We were able to find the elk on the first trip out into the woods. Once we found where they were then we just stuck with them. My bull was a 6 x 6 and scored 320" and is now safe at the taxidermist. Who says they are no big bulls in over the counter units? And what makes it so sweet is the public land DIY hunt.

Now I have plenty of meat for the freezer and a trophy for the wall. Thank you lord for making by bullet fly true and the animal to die quick.

congrates, on the success, nothing like hunting elk in fresh snow, kind of gives the hunter the edge, sweet bulls, even the little feller.....

Thats a stud for that area good job! 33 is "my" elk and muley unit and I know excatly where your buddy was when that last pic was taken but don't worry its safe with me, once again nice bull looks like you guys had a great time!

Thanks guys, I'm still stoked. He's an awesome first bull and will be hard for me to top. Without the broken 4th, he would've been knocking on the door of 330. @ 270, I figured someone would catch that picture, we killed all 3 in that general area.

kilowatt: We done the scoring when i got home with myself and a friend. it is not legal scoring but who gives a crap it is what it is besides the point it measures what it measures right, not counting the broken points. if you would like to come to mississippi and score it yourself then you are welcome. i am just a simple man who likes to hunt and i would not lie about a score. if you dont like what i killed on a diy over the counter hunt then kiss my @$$. Thank You....I can take it off of this site if you dont like it.

I'd like to know where you found that "good" weather. Seems our fall has been more like summer. Great bull!

Congratulations! That's a great OTC DIY Colo bull!
Way to get er done.

Oh sheite, that looks cold!

Done get you panties in a wad about the "scoring" comments. It's the freakin internet and everybody is an expert. Me too, just ask me and if you don't ask, I'll tell you. LOL

Congrats again on a good elk hunt.

Zeke

Don't get upset about the scoring comment. It's nothing. I have an elk on my wall. It scored 298, I had it rescored, it still scored 298. What makes one crazy, is they see a picture on the net with a score and it isn't or doesn't compute, but you can't tell for sure from a net picture. It happens all the time.

Don't worry about it. It's an out of this world bull for the unit you were in and to be proud of period.

Thanks for posting your pictures.

It is not the score. I think it matters more the hunt and the level of animal that is in the zone. I doubt there were many bigger than yours taken.

Joey

seriously a "broken G4 and he would have been 330". I just cant see 10 inches being broken off of one point. Iam sorry but I dont see a 320 there either.

Agreed.. no offense but this place is notorious for calling out mis scores haha but ive seen alot of bulls in the 320 range and I don't think thats one of them. Great bull for a OTC none the less.

Now that is a great bull there Colorado. And to be honest I can see how Mywifes8uidhgilah's bull could hit around 330. For 1 his main beams look just a little longer then yours, and his G1's are also a little longer. Yours scores 321, so all you gotta add is 9-10 inches over all and there you go.

Both are great looking bulls. Mount 'em both I say cause there are a lot of hunters who NEVER get a 6 point bull.

If you would shoot it and be happy on the last day of the hunt, you might as well shoot it on the first day!!

Main beams are 50 and 51 inches long. Here he is next to my wyoming bullhttp://www.monstermuleys.info/photos/user_photos/602010bull.jpg

Hey guys, I appreciate all the good comments and believers of the score. I am sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings for killing a bull in a no points unit that scores more than most in Colorado. I'm just a boy from mississippi who was trying to get it done. I measured him again and sorry its the same according to the boone and crocket score sheet. And Colorado, for one, main beams were 53 7/8 , 52 6/8 for a start, with a lot more ma
s than your bull. I'm sorry for the bad comments to kilo , I just want someone to show me a bigger bull from that area with no points.

Nice over the counter bull, sorry but I do not see 320 there at all. Nice mass, but bull is short across the board (broke on one I see), none the less nice job on your otc hunt.

Unfortunately you blew it with your comments to kilo, so no respect here pal. Telling others to kiss your @@@@ because they question your score is not cool. If you can't take the heat then don't push your score.

Post all the measurments to prove your point. I was not going to comment but I dont see 320 either. I agree that is a great over the counter bull but last I checked you dont get 20 points added to the score for killing it in a tougher unit. We all have lots of friends and friends of friends who kill bulls that magically shrink a bunch when someone who actually know how to score something puts a tape on it. I know of lots of 340 bulls and 190 bucks that somehow scored 15-25 points less when I put the tape on them. Yours would do the same. Great achievement to kill a nice bull in a OTC unit however.

The main beams might be longer but I wouldnt say he has 'alot' more mass. The reason he most likely scores higher is his points are longer.

Alright measuring "pros" a few questions for you . . .

On an elk how many width measurments are there?

How many mass measurements are there?

And from where do you begin the measurement of each point?

Oh yeah, and what measuring device is allowed?
