Great hunt in AZ Unit 6A for the late 2010 October rifle hunt. Thanks to Bobby at Backwoods Guides [http://www.backwoodsguides.com/] for the advice and direction.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-03-10 AT 00:12AM (MST)[p]Wow, what a neat bull. Did you get him on Sunday, say around 3-4 p.m.?

I ask because I think we saw that same bull (or his twin)with about 10-15 cows, but my lady hunter couldn't get a clear shot on him at 300 yards as he pushed the girls through the junipers. And later on, we heard a number of shots from the basin that the herd went into, and saw two or three quads working down into the basin after the shooting stopped.

Looks just like the ridge where we saw the quads too.

Anyway, good job, glad someone got him. That weird stuff on his back antler does looks just like the bull we saw.

Congratulations!

Don,
Could be about right; except mabey a little later in the day and the quad thing. We were on quads but didn't go overland to haul anything out; didn't get to the quads until after dark. I think you and your lady hunter whistled at me the previous day while I was making a mad dash at other nice bulls we glassed up to the northwest - no time and no shots. Darn the luck. I believe you started that afternoon from a side x side on a north east facing hill side?

Oldernie

Yep, that was us! Were you wearing the orange hat?

Was there a buddy with you?

Yeah, one of my guys had glassed up three bulls, including one real big guy on Saturday afternoon in a clearing and we had headed for them when we saw you guys.

What a great bull! Wished that lady had got on him, but hey its hunting and I'm glad you got him!

Yea - I had the hat - my partner stayed back so it was just me trudging after those bulls in the clearing - probably the same bunch. We only saw 2 but one was a monster. I turned around shortly after we made contact and found 3 pretty nice 5 pt sheds on my way back. must be a "bull-playground" over there.

Thanks for your congrats -

BTW - i don't have a score yet - what is your guess?

Oldernie

We thought he was a 320-330 bull at the time. Didn't get a lot of time to look at all of him since he was pushing cows through the junipers at 300 yards, but we knew he was a darn good one and a shooter for sure!

I tell you, you got a great bull here, no matter the score. When my hunter sees these photos, she is gonna cry! She had him in the scope for a short time, but bull only presented a butt shot and we told her to pass.

Good job!
