Late Season Cow Elk Help

Last spring I thought it would be fun to put in for a late season cow elk hunt. I didn't know which area I should put in for so I put the map on the wall and threw a dart. I drew a tag for an area that I have never scouted, hunted or drive by before. I have looked the unit over on google earth and it seems like pretty good elk country. And due to unforeseen circumstances, I only have the first hour of sun light opening morning to hunt.

Now I am not looking for anybody's honey hole, but can you tell me where I can shoot a cow from the road opening morning and have it loaded in the truck by 10 am.

Thanks in advance!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-06-10 AT 08:43AM (MST)[p]Alot of the cow hunts these days aren't like the cow hunts 10 years ago. Most of the time you can't drive down a dirt road shoot one and load it up and go home.
Unless you get real lucky !
The cow hunts I have been on over the last few years take hunting. You need to find them hike into them and plan a way to pack them out.
I think we have educated them to the point that they just don't stand on the road and wait for you to shoot them. The areas I have cow hunted,we always have the guys that drive the road and say there aren't any cows or elk in this area. Because of pressure or atvs they have learned to stay away from the roads.
Tell us what area you drew your tag for and we may be able to help. Any way have a good hunt and enjoy your time on the mountain.

Fellows, I think we're being jerked around a little. If you're telling the truth then don't stop to take a leak or you will miss your hunt.

Mybe you and "MEATinTHEpot" can get together and do some female animal road hunting? 2 eyes are better than 1!

I was being facetious with this post of those guys who don't do their homework or put in any pre-hunt effort and come on here asking to be spoon fed information a week or 2 before their hunt starts. In my opinion, they are short changing themselves of the whole hunting experience.
