I found a landowner voucher for 64/65 east of Montrose. I'll have $800 bucks in it by the time I pay the state their share. It's for third season. Is it worth that much? I've never hunted the area and would have several days to scout before the Nov. 4 opener. thanks

We hunted there a couple of years ago and it was ok. The good hunting was obviously on the private ground, of which there is a lot. We had a tough time finding public ground in the lower country where the deer were. There are a couple of wildlife management areas that are good but there are loads of hunters.
We took 1 nice buck out of 8 of us.
I would rather buy this tag and hunt than stay home.

Dearbedead,
Thanks for the help. It does at least give me a "feel" for the area. Good luck to you.

I was with deerbedead on this hunt and it's a good hunt for $800. Lots of private ground with small pockets of public land through out the unit. Do some scouting, mostly to find out what's private and whats public. Oh and pray for snow. They kill good bucks on this unit every year. Mostly on private, but I'm sure those bucks cross on to public chasing does. Good Luck.
