Just read that the Pasayten is entirely closed to public entry. The forest service is looking at things and trying to determine if they will be able to open any of it for the High Hunt. I have a feeling this will put more pressure on other areas that are open, the season starts in a week, most guys aren't going to just drop out at this stage of the game.

bob, I don't see updates to alpine on the web, which trail heads or roads in souther alpine are closed? I've got several potentials but some are in the south end of the unit, thanks.

Its something like Pollaile Ridge, its by Waptus lake out of Cle-elum that is closed. Don't know the specific trails, that is where the lightening hit though.

ridge, copper river road is closed and access to all the trails up valley from it.

Cooper river trail, pete lake trail which extends to rampart ridge, that area
cooper lake campground area
cut and pasted off of inciweb:

Due to the proximity of this fire to major trail systems, various trail and road closures went into effect on Tuesday afternoon.

Cooper River Road #4600 is closed from the junction with Salmon La Sac Highway (the road is closed from the Cooper River Bridge). This road closure affects access to Owhi Campground, Cooper Lake, and the Pete Lake Trailhead as well as numerous side roads.

Closed trails:

Pete Lake Trail #1323

Pete Lake Tie Trail #1323.1

Tired Creek Trail #1317

Waptus Pass Trail #1329

Polallie Ridge Trail #1309

Escondido Lake Trail #1320

Waptus Burn Trail #1329.3

Trail Creek Trail #1322

Michael Lake Trail #1336

Spinola Creek Trail #1310.1

Kittitas County Sheriffs officers have contacted homeowners in the Cooper Lake area advising them of the fire's proximity.

Knophish, that is a great link to all of the fire information. Like Ridge,

I hope everyone just bags it and gears up for the general season. Much of the Alpine Archery Elk is closed; season opens tomorrow for "any elk" but..... Then those areas closed for the High Hunt; all of the Pasayten, and good chunks of the Lake Chelan Recreation area (Flick Creek Fire), all of the Entiat (Tinpan Fire) plus the southern half of the Alpine Lake Wilderness (Pollalie Fire).

It would not be pretty if everyone ended up archery hunting elk in the Icicle and rifle hunting mule deer in those few areas that are open. Stay home (I will be hunting).
