I won this tag and did not know what I was in for. I went and scouted in the summer with my brother and girlfriend. The area was nothing like any place I had ever hunter in Wyoming. We have a friend there that helped us out greatly. Mr. Fish told me places to look and when the hunt came he told me where elk where at. Dad and I left Casper Wyoming five days before it opened day to try to find a bull to take on opening day. That did not happen. It was hot and the elk did not want to stay out of the dark timber and the full moon did not help. We road alot of trails and saw alot of land. My horse was beat by the time the hunt really started. The cows had eat all the meadows and normal elk places out. There are to many cows there i think.( ranch Cows it is over grassed) After three days and not seeing an bulls I liked. We went to places there where no cows. I found this bull with 13 cow elk and two little bulls close to them. I wanted him but had little time to get in close for to make a good shot. I ran a good mile to got where I could get him before he got into the thick trees. I set up for a 400 yard shot and made it count. My 7mm stw did the trick. It was fun to have a hunt with just my dad and I and get away from the ranch and work for a few days.
