Idaho OTC archery Elk..Help PLEASE?

Looking for some information from the all knowing MM guys on DIY over the counter Archery elk in Idaho? Any help would be great. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, looking at those units. Have you hunted there before? I am just nervous buying a 450.00 dollar tag and not seeing an animal. Thanks

$450 tag plus a $155 license. I guess that still isn't too bad compared to some states! If you want any scouting done, or some free advice on Central Idaho, let me know...

Where would you recommend getting an over the counter elk tag in your neck of the woods?

MM----sure I have hunted them both.

Island Park zone is a little more exciting with the occasional Grizzz sighting or fresh tracks and the wolves are around and ya hear 'em howl now and then... decent elk and a little to many dirt roads......for me.

Bear River zone-----no Grizzz.....no sign of wolves......but plenty of grazing permits for sheep and cattle........sometimes a hassle sometimes not a factor.

If ya throw your name in the hat for an Elk tag-----OTC---think about doing one of the overlap Bull Moose tags----pricey--- but odds are fairly decent in the 75,77,78 units.
