UT Gov tag bull

It makes me wonder, will it be scored as a typ or non typ.....I believe that the B&C score sheet allows for 8 inline typical points....making this a judgement call on typ vs non typ according to a really grainy backwards pic......the mass measurment between the fifth and sixth will be disgusting.......If i recall the four mass measurements can come from anywhere on the beam there just has to be four of them???

If I recall the Mass measurements are the smallest within the area being measured?

LAST EDITED ON Jan-18-11 AT 06:22AM (MST)[p]I heard from a very reliable source that they hunted hard for an extremely long time and finally settled on this bull. He only scores in the 370's. The only reason I say that is because that only proves how tough a year it was statewide at finding those bigger bulls. You can usually count on the Gov tag being a 400" bull for sure. If this is a trend you will see those tags go way down in value.

It's a great bull. For me I would shoot this bull over a typical 400"er just because of the character.

It's always an adventure!!!

He a Bull worthy of the tag that is for sure. Love his character and the mass is pretty awesome too.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

He'll go in between 380-390 once put back together, Has a couple inches broke off.

Easy man. I thought u were joking Im sorry!! Rez hero thats funny stuff.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-19-11 AT 08:37PM (MST)[p]I hate to say it but when the governor tag takes bulls like that two years straight it means the elk herd is being completely decimated! Those governor tag bulls are usually over 390. When they consistently fall at and below 370 it doesn't speak well for the management of the state. But hey, we have those types out there who would rather steal from eveyone and have you hunt raghorns than to wait a few years more to draw and have a quality hunt.

I just don't see that herd turning around anytime soon.

+1 to that! I watched this bull during the late hunt, and he was busted up a little... at least I think it was the same bull. If so I also have hard horn trail cam pics of him. Man I missed the score on him big time. Cool bull none the less.

Stinky, Didn't you take part in that "stealing" part last year? I'm confused, aren't you part of the problem if you are buying the stolen tags. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Traditional >>>------->

That is a nice bull, but it has been doctored up for the camera. He was broke on the late hunt, and he was only a 7x7 in August. So unless he grew a 20 inch 8th point after he rubbed the velvet off someone is trying to make him look a lot bigger than he is. My friends had that bull opening day of the late hunt and watched him for a long time before they let him go because of how broke he was.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-21-11 AT 07:06AM (MST)[p]This bull was actually a 8x8 he had a small hook cheater on his right side

I will try this afternoon, I have never posted pics here before..

Ossborn you can email them to me and I will post them up for you. I sent you a pm with my email address.

Cmon Osborn you know how big he was, and you know how broke he was, so fill us in on the details. I think the whole story is funny, and just want to hear more about it. How long were the points that made him an 8x8, I can't see them on the pic you posted on the TU site.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-21-11 AT 05:27PM (MST)[p]Is it the same bull?? I'm leanin toward nope close but not the same bull......on second thought and a closer look yup same bull with a little tweaking.....

Sure looks identical to me except that the kicker off the 5 on the left side was busted off and they photoshopped in a 12" tine in it's place.

Well since I got "nuked" I guess I will rephase. I think I am gonna laugh myself into a comma, that right there is some funny shizz... I get it now Utah's elk aren't really that bad off...All you have to do is kill a 360 bull then add a little bone here and there, and wahlah, you have your 400incher....ha ha ha!!! Well at least that is what SOME do!!!! Go ahead nuke me again I am telling facts....right?

what happened to the pics. Last rumor I herd was they said it scored 390+, the bull in the trail cameras is not 390+ bull, I would say 330ish trail cam bull, so it must not be the same bull.

@cantkillathing The bull in the trail pictures is not 330ish. Those extra points are going to add up fast. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it made 360+ I saw the picture of the dead elk and they are identical, minus the photo shopped points they added back in.

I am wondering how long the points are, I beleive the 4ths are the longest points and I would guess they might be 14-15 inches long.

The pics were taken down because they were wrong on points. The pics posted in this thread showed what the bull was before he was broke and weren't a "guess". Just remember, Doyle never posted those pics on this forum to mis-represent the bull. Someone sent that pic out and it ended up here. The original pic is owned by Mossback and they wanted it removed because it was obviously wrong.
